Forums - Politics Discussion - GOP candidate Ted Cruz says a person who doesn't pray to God isn't fit to be president

- Presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz from Texas spoke during the National Religious Liberties Conference in Iowa.

- he was asked by pastor Kevin Swanson how important is to "fear" God for a president to which he answered:

"Any president who doesn't begin every day on his knees isn't fit to be commander-in-chief of this country,"

- The Center for Freethought Equality issued a press release where they reacted to the GOP candidate with the following:

“By claiming that those who do not pray are not fit for office, Senator Cruz is perpetuating the prejudiced myth that humanists and atheists are not moral people,”

- the Openly Secular coalition also reacted:

“His conclusory statement suggesting that someone who is nonreligious is not qualified to hold public office is not only deeply insulting and patently wrong, it suggests Cruz doesn’t know that America’s founders explicitly rejected the idea. They enshrined in the U.S. Constitution a prohibition of religious tests for public office.”

There's another way to interprete his original comment, I noticed... And one more, if you're really nitpicking and purposely misunderstanding.

It's ironic, because its quite the opposite. But, they will just pretend to.

Then Ted Cruz would definitely be satisfied with a Muslim president. Heard those guys are supposed pray five times a day and not just in the morning.

.- -... -.-. -..

How can Ted Cruz control a country if he can't even control his hairline?

Me: 1 Cruz: 0

Yeah Ted Cruz is totally wrong here and I have been saying this since the beginning of this presidential race: "I don't trust this guy."

A resident from Texas told me that as a US Senator, Ted Cruz would say that he would do one thing and then do another.

Well that's a way for atheists to hate you, well done.
