Forums - Sales Discussion - USA Week December 5th.

I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but watching the numbers of some monsters defeated on XCX, this seems overtracked. I hope not, but we'll see on NPD.

Key Titles:
Xenoblade Chronicles X debuts at 225, 472 copies sold, it is a Wii U exclusive. (Come On, Xenoblade! I'm rooting for ya!)
Rainbow Six: Siege debuts at 269,482 copies across PS4 and Xbox One.
Just Cause 3 debuts at 297,124 copies across PS4 and Xbox One.

Splatoon outsells Halo 5. Again... I don't freaking believe it!

Why is Splatoon outselling Halo 5 hard to believe? I mean Splatoon is bundled with the Wii U right now.

"The first one sold much more in the US than in Japan."

And how do you know this exactly ?

It never cracked TOP 10 in NPD and was a retailer exclusive.

Imho Xenoblade is hugely overtracked

And how do you know the opposite exactly...?  Where's the reasoning about your opinion...

How it would crack  npd while it was a retailer exclusive as a result npd excluding it from its monthly report?

http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/xenoblade-chronicles-3d/0/0thly report?

Recently, Japanese comics have been quite popular in the West.

Takahashi

That's true. I think that people caught on to their appeal.

Iwata

Of course, I've also seen the strong reaction to Xenoblade Chronicles from people who love Japanese comics and anime. But that's not the only appeal.

Takahashi

True.

Iwata

There's the impression that the people who enjoy the overall JRPG genre were overjoyed with the game. They seemed to feel like the next generation of JRPG had finally arrived. The overseas sales would never be higher than the Japanese sales unless that was the case.

Exact figures were not released, though Nintendo announced that the game sold more in the West than in Japan, indicating at least 200,000 copies sold.[

We can pretty easily assume by that that it had sold more in the USA than in Japan...

a lot of hype for Xenoblade X, I would not be surprised if it truly did over 200k. bear in mind it basically IS the Wii U's holiday game. not hard to see why it would sell fairly well

Well, the others already answered your question.Plus, you have no basis or arguments whatsoever to say that it didnt, while we have the sales on vgchartz that says it did(for good or worse, wether you believe them or not, its the only source of information on sales that we have)

Plus XCX have, like people already said, alot of hype behind it, is not store exclusive, was far more marketing than the first, with appearences on multiple directs, Ads on TV and more. And all the sales info that we got so far, it is outselling the original in every single market. So yeah, its going to do far better than the first one.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Wow, this game is officially dead.  Where is the sales longivity for this game?  This game seems like a good game.

This game will be alive again once Square Enix brought it to its home, where it belongs to, the PS4.

Xenoblade's numbers probably aren't wrong. And if they are, they probably only are by like 10k-30k. I mean, it's practically the only big game for Wii U owners this holiday, it had intense marketing on channels like Adult Swim and has had amazing coverage ever since its reveal. 225k isn't that hard to believe you guys..

That's why I'm skeptical.
I'd belive it easily if it was the PS4. But this is the Wii U we're talking about.

Xenoblade Chronicles X numbers might be slightly overtracked, by around 10k or 25k at most. I can't understand the mentality of those people here who are begging for it to underperform and basically flop here in the states...
