PSX version is something like a standalone SNES emulator running the game. PSP version is a PSX emulator running a SNES emulator running the game. Both versions are known as Loading Fantasy or Final Loading.

I used to like it but don't particularly recommend it.

And just after you review this FFVI comes out lol.

Really dig the in depth review process and the pros/cons between each.

This is actually one of my older reviews - I'm gonna do one for FFV tommorrow and FFVI the day after!

Also thanks! Over the past few years the way I do reviews have changed. This version is the shortest and easiest by far. My older ones were tl;dr xD

But ya excited that FFVI is out - I wonder what the next FF will be for PC - hopefully I & II or Tactics.

I only vaguely remember playing the Tactics Advance back in 2004 but didn't get to play the first or the one after Advance, I would imagine them brining them sometime in the future though.

Like you, Final Fantasy was one of my first video games, one of my first SNES games.
My first RPG.
God - I was a spoiled child!

Absolute timeless game. But it does show it's age and how far back some JRPG tropes go

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The first one is completely different from the GBA one. The story is much more darker and grim - the gameplay mechanics are kinda similar but without the annoying Judge/penalty system of the advanced version.

Its worth it! More than likely they will release War of the Lions on PC which is the remake of the original one which was released on PSP, iOS and Android.

Oooh ooh I'd love another shot at Crisis Core now it comes to memory.

I gotta ask, why is length ranked rather low? Is it a shorter game? O: Could I beat it in less than 30 hrs???

Also, I've wanted to play this for a long time, so I'm going to, someday...

Yes. The SNES and PSX version took me less than 30 hours - the reason why the GBA version took me extra hours is because of the extra dungeon and its harder enemies and bosses - so I had to grind more and explore as well ;p

For me RPGs I rate their length the same for all RPGs.

7 = 20+ hours
8 = 30+ hours
9 = 40+ hours
10 = 50+ hours

Oh, that's good to hear x ) I would like to play it, but I wouldn't want to play another 50 + RPG... a shorter one would be nice for me.

Well Final Fantasy I and II are like 15 to 20 hours depending how much you grind.

Final Fantasy III is like around 15-20 as well.

FFIV you can beat within 25-30 as well.

Great to hear! I'm glad I'll be able to play those older FF games without having to use too much time. : D
