Splatoon continues to amaze us... I'm also very happy for Wii U's performance!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Isn't it a bit dumb to release it right after Christmas?

Not in Japan.  It's one of the bigger sales days of the year.

Boxing Day?

No, that's typically only celebrated by England and former commonwealth nations.

The 26th simply tends to have good retailer sales and discounts.  Kids getting cash for Christmas jump on that.

But SMTXFE isnt a kids game. Its rated M. Tbh it makes no sense but i hope Nintendo knows what they are doing.

Exactly.  So you don't want to release it before Christmas when everyone's buying presents for their children.

Apparently for New Year, parents give children money to buy their own presents, so typically teenagers go out and buy what they want.  Which sees bigger bumps for PS hardware but may also see a title like this doing alright.  Final Fantasy X/X2 HD rode this wave over the new year in 2013.

Man that Nintendomination. It warms the heart to see the Wii U sales. Wii U being up YoY shows that there is indeed growth and that this supposed dead console only gets stronger every year.

In Japan, not so much globally.

Still, good numbers by the Wii U and 3DS here, I still remember a couple of years back when a user actually argued against me and claimed that there is no holiday boost in Japanese console sales numbers...

That's not true.  2013 was it's peak year 2013>2015>2014. So it's not gone up every year.

What has happened is splatoon gave it a lifeline and allowed it to beat the abysmal 2014. You're statement not true.

That's not true. Retailers sales and discounts are on January 2nd and 3rd, New Year's Eve. There's no sale in Japan for Christmas or in December.

And be very close to its peak year sales, of 2013! Say it all Onekart e.t.c

Also super mario maker has contributed too in that situation...

I did say it all.  All there is to say is that his statement was incorrect.
