No amount of Mario or Halo would save it. 3rd parties would still abandon it a year or so after the PS5 launched, just so they're not making 2 versions of the same game. |
You can seee the definite future?

Well, I did call the home console race this gen much better than some Nintendo fans ("If Wii U is doing this bad, imagine how bad PS4 and XBO will do") and MS fans ("XBO is going to be real competition and will have the US and UK on lock.")

You're saying that in an era when multiplatform releases are pretty much the only sensible options for 3rd party companies.
Take a while to think about how illogical that is.

Yep, cause EVERYONE is making sure to release their games on both PS4 AND XBO. Oh, wait...
Let's actually think about this logically. If the dream did become real and the NX was a Nintendo Xbox, but the other rumors are right and it isn't quite on par with the PS4, guess who's not buying it? Xbox fans. Only an extremely small amount of them are buying another $299-$399 console that is the same power as their current one, just to play Halo and Mario. They'd be jumping ship to the PS5 when it launches. The Xbox brand would pretty much become irrelevant in the home console market.
Now, if the NX sells, say, 30M LTD and is the same power as the XBO, while the PS5 sells 100M+ and is a 4x-5x times jump over current gen, you think the NX is getting the same 3rd party support as the PS5? Nope. It'll be better than the Wii U's, but much poorer than the XBO is seeing currently. And a big part of that is not only install base, but also that history shows us that recent Nintendo fans just don't buy 3rd party games.
