Forums - Microsoft Discussion - ok so as i stated early i bought a xbox one but i have one MAJOR problem wit it......

Ryse and MCC are the only games that took annoyingly long to install for me. Other installs, digital downloads and updates have been quick. Are you installing many games at the same time? Also I've read on Fifa forums there's been problems with online matchmaking in many games tonight so maybe it has something to do with Xbox live?

Well I hope you get to play soon. Those install/update times aren't normal tho.

If you want fast installs, you should get the PS4. There was a high trending tweets in Sept-Feb about faulty hard drives in the Xbox One. Is anything failing? I don't think it was widespread only trended sporatically. If you do find it erroring out, just take it in for a replacement.

Xbox One can only download one thing at a time, so it's normal that the Witcher 3 installation was paused when you opened the outdated DVD Player app.

However, my Xbox One slightly outperforms my PS4 in digital installation if they're both only downloading a single game (not a big difference though). So I think there's something wrong with your Xbox.

But my xbox is brand new how is it outdated? And I've had my ps4 a year and a half and it's never "updated" the dvd drive, the fucking controllers. And it always says data snyching aswell when i try and play a game.I seriously have no idea what it's doing half the time lol its so strange

I'm saying the app (not the Drive itself, the app) is outdated. Controller and app updates usually take seconds with a decent connection, so normally that shouldn't be something to worry about. Same goes with syncing. Again, if it isn't an internet problem then something is wrong with the Xbox.

Exactly. The first time that ive ever seen a FUCKING controller update was with the Xbox One. What the fuck is that!? LOL

Im going to narrate what was my first experience with the console, which i bought from the Gears of War bundle deal from Amazon a month ago.

1) Turn ON the console. It demands an update. Yup, not optional, you HAVE to update the console to use it.

2) The console was updated a couple of hours later. I want to play COD Black Ops 3. Well, bad luck for me, the game has to install on the console even tho it is a physical copy. I was thinking, well who cares about 5 minutes more. I was wrong, the game took more than 30 minutes to fucking install on the console.

3) Phew, the game is installed finally. Im going to play the game. Well, fuck me, the controller needs to update. One more hour to go...

4) At last, the motherfucking controler (?) is updated! Lests play the game...uh oh! The game NEEDS to be updated. Fuuuuuuuuuu...

5) So the game updated. After more than 5 hours im playing the fucking game. Hurrah...

6) My internet went down. Say Buh Bye to the pins on your Home Screen.

God, i hate so much the Xbox OS. IMHO the Ps4 OS is WAY better. Faster, simpler, more videogame focused.

You really need to chill out.

1. When I updated my controller it took maybe 5 minutes over wifi so I call BS on taking an hour.

Ps4 OS is faster Huh? Every test I've seen comparing the New xbox OS to the PS4, the Xbox is faster everytime.

An hour for the controller update is just hyperbole. Or maybe ignorance. He didnt know you can start Xbone games and play while installing.

Go wired.
But yeah I've had some abnormally slow updates on Xbox at times. Server load might have some affect

It takes awhile for mine to install games and updates. More than once I've had to install discs offline then sign in to update. They also won't update without the disc in which is annoying.

That sounds like you have a terrible internet connection or a broken device. If that were standard, it would be pretty big news.

>> so far it has taken nearly 18 hours to download witcher 3 to 76%. Forza horizon 2 took nearly 23 hours to get to 68%. then it told me i had to update my controllers.

This type of problem/issue is not just limited to the XB1 it is across all consoles and PC's.

Basically it appears your network connection from your XB1 to the servers is slow although how slow is slow is annother issue. From what I can gather The Witcher 3 download is anything from 35GB plus. So assuming that size to download is actually 35GB then if you only got 76% after 18 hours your network download speed is approximately 2.4 MB/s.

Looking at your Forza download which would normally be 39.23GB, so 23 hours to get 68% would work out that your network download is applroximately 3.1 MB/s which is not that far off your download speed for The Whicher 3.

Depending on your network and your Service Provider these download speeds may or may not be what you expected. Where I live which is Sydney Australia I do get similar download speeds although on occasion I have seen 10 MB/s bursts.

Personally I am not into digital downloads unless the files are relatively small mainly due to the limitation on network speed where I live. This would be the case for the majority of internet users although I won't deny that there are some who can get incredible download speeds. I am well aware that some will say that you only need to do this once however you really should consider the possibilty that that if you really need to reinstall then you are back to a long wait. Still this a topic that has been done to death.

I don't have an XB1 or PS4 for that matter yet.

Digital downloads are fully dependent on the network performance between your machine be it PC or console to the site where you are getting the files from.

Installing via media is normally faster than installing via download although not as convient. As for cost well that depends as well.

Most games when installed via media (ie. Bluray) on the PS4 are normally ready to play within a few miniutes compared to the media (ie. Blueray) install on the XB1. To fully install a game whether for the PS4 or the XB1 (assuming the same game) takes approximately the same ammount of time.

I dunno what to tell you. Maybe it's a bad ethernet port, maybe it's a bad HDD. Could be a slow connection (and you need to port forward). It could be a number of things, up to and including the possibility that you're spoiled by PC and PS4 speeds.
