I use to be a huge GTA fan back on PS1/PS2 era, but after San Andreas the series fell off a cliff for me with IV and V not appealing at all to me.  In its place came Saints Row.  A series I thought nothing of, but finally tried with Saint Row III and I loved it.  I loved Saints Row IV so much I bought the ultimate edition on PS4 despite 100% it on PS3.  It's just so fun! Even if you roll your eyes at the humor, to me this is what GTA I & II were, colorful, crude, and a blast to play.

So, the question is will a Saints Row V happen and where will the series go? It has used time travel, space travel, virtual reality, super powers, etc. to push boundaries of silliness. My hope is will find out by end of next year what is happening with the series.

All I want is a new city to cause mayhem in. I love the missions such as ragdolling to get insurance or racing or climbing towers.  I love the bizarre weapons that can make people dance or explode.  The story can be as nutty as they want, give me moments like climbing a rocket to Aerosmith or fighting terminators in a mech suit or singing in a car to Biz Markie.  I just want more of what III and IV offered. You?

They should show something next year. It would be enough time unless the expansion for 4 took there time away for working on 5 if they are doing it. But it's pretty likely they are.

Well, if they follow the story, Saints Row V would have to take place on another planet, after what Zinyak and the Zin did to Earth.

And given how over the top is this series, it wouldn't be too surprising, although I prefer if they go back to "reality" and set it up on Earth and without superpowers (althought they could be still implemented in special missions in virtua reality worlds).

But yeah, I'm also anxious to see what Volition can do next. The Saints Row games aren't great in the tech aspects, but they are a lot of fun.

I hope so, it's one of my top games I still hope gets announced this generation. Last I heard they were expanding their team, but nothing since. I hope they improve on a new engine and possibly include time travel. I still want some of the same characters though, like Kinzie.

i finished saints row 1,2,3,4 and gat out hell, i really want a saints row V :D ( or a reboot of course )

If they keep the stylized look and optimize for current gen I am sure things like draw distance and frame rate will improve.  I just like the variety of missions and how never sure what is coming next.  I might fight a giant soda can as a statue or ride a raptor.  That sort of insanity is what makes me shake my head and keep coming back.

I got bored with 4 and Gat and never finished it. I did love 3, though.

Kinzie is fine, but it isn't a true Saints Row game without Gat.

Some spoilers for Gat out of Hell. At the end there were 5 endings, two were interesting for sequel potential. One of them was the Saints go to find another planet and the other the Earth is not destroyed, but Gat is a cop.

I love Sain'ts Row.  It's just a damn fun world to play in.  GTA games kind of bored me and I find the characters unlikable but Saint's Row, despite always being linked to GTA, is a much different beast.

With SR V, I kind of hope that it's a "starting over" scenario, the way it was with SR III.  I want to start from scratch again rather than from an overpowered position.  Heck, make it so the crew got kicked through into parallel world and split up.  Let me build my empire anew.  Give me some new members, especially more converted ex-enemies.  

I really hope we get some solid details next year.
