Forums - Gaming Discussion - (Rumour) Rise of the Tomb Raider sells less than 200k in November (U.S.)

I know some people around here looking at these numbers, have the "Nelson Attitude" towards Square Enix for "betraying" the Playstation fanbase for such a stupid decision.

My question is:

What can Square Enix do in regards of this game to make the Playstation fans forget about that back stab?

Bundle the game with extras? Free DLC?

Around the Network

Wow - even with the bundles? I find that terribly hard to believe...

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

When it releases on PS4 it shouldn't be titled Definite Edition or GOTY Edition but Apology Edition.

Hat in Hand Edition lol

And to say Microsoft hoped to be able to fight Uncharted 4 with this, they couldnt even match the level of the collection , this partnership is catastrophic for everyone involved, Microsoft who spent ton of money for nothing , Square Enix who will have to wait 1 year to get the money from the game they developped , the développer and tomb raider who didnt deserve it but are dishonored by all this story.
Thanks Microsoft

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I still feel like MS purposefully botched this game because Square started selling pre-orders for PC and PS4 before comming out for MS, kinda voiding the exclusivity agreement, so MS out of spite screwed them over. It was evident from the begining RoTR was just a token game ot make MS list of Hollydays release look meatier, they werent banking much on it to beggin with, so it was easy to screw them over. That and the fact that Square has serious issues releasing this game almost simultaneously to Halo and 1 week before Fallout 4.

This is extremely disappointing considering that this probably means this while be the finale game in the series. Can't imagine Square Enix will be making another which sucks because I loved the first one and the second one sounds like everyone likes it. Hopefully it can make some money up on the PS4, but I doubt it will be enough...

not much the damage seems to be done. I would say charge no more than 40 with whatever DLC would be out, that goes for PC version too. If they try to charge full price they are gonna screw themselves

maybe im a cynic but i think MS did this just as a big F u to whoever has a PS system and not theres. Why else? They werent expecting people to buy another system just for TR? they know it does better on Sony systems.

Its more about bad marketing and time management/planning than anything else.

Its not the platform, its how poorly a job was done, to help it sell anything.

That and fan bases actually matter.

If you steal away a title where most of its fan base is on another console, chances are sales are going to be bad.

it's fan base wasnt even on ps4... it's on PC. the marketing has indeed been close to none from what i've seen but it had the advantage of being a timed exclusive on a western centric platform
