In the end The Order 1886 (PS4) outsells TR (XB1) during the holidays and with a 20% less install base. Guess exclusives during the holidays matters more right?

that is crazy but great ^^

It would be a tragedy if RoTR ends with a lower LTD than The Order on Xb one, but I think it very unlikely. The Order's sales were pretty front loaded, but RoTR should have decent legs because of positive reviews and word of mouth.

So let me get this straight...people buy games, when they don't have games to play? Holy shit!
But...but that means,
When they have to many games too play, they in fact buy less games? Madness!

That explains why the ps4 leads software because it's owners have no games.  The more you know!

Did sony lie in their PR? They said this was their biggest month in the US in PlayStation history while the ps2 did over 2m during a November?

But the PS2 never did over 2m in a november. :|

And Sony didn't really say that it was their biggest November in the US (even though it is). They just said it was Playstation's best black friday.

Didn't they say biggest November, and the PS2 2 million month was December? Black Friday wasn't quite as big for video game sales back in PS2 days, so I hear.

No one has ever said that. It is past its peak, but this gen should still end up with sales close to 6th gen, just with more Xbs sold, and fewer PSs and Wii Us compared to the 6th gen counterparts. The 9th gen will determine whether console gaming is dying.

People did say it up and still say it. They've been saying it for years. So much so that Shuhei Yoshida commented on that.

What... the 6th gen of the almighty PS2? Do you know the total sales of 6th consoles? 212m or 203m excluding Dreamcast... You probably wanted to say surpassing considerably 5th gen... Unless you have a different definition for the ''close'' than me...

That means they'd have to sell over 100 million each, since the PS2 sold nearly 200 million units...

If anything I expect them to go slightly over the 360+PS3 figures. The PS4 by a sizable margin and the Xbox One slightly above it...

I meant in the U.S. alone. This is an NPD thread, after all. Globally, I suspect combined PS4+XBO sales to be in the neighborhood of 150-160 million, less than the combined ~180 million the PS2 and Xbox sold and a bit short of the combined ~170 million the PS3 & 360 sold. One reason is because Japan is a shrinking market and the PS4 will never touch the PS2's numbers there and the XBO is on track to be by far the worst-selling Xbox system ever. Also, the XBO is bombing in mainland Europe, making the region sans the UK almost a single-console market; according to VGC the PS4 is selling well over four times as much as the XBO. Another reason is because I doubt the PS4 & XBO will have the legs the PS2 did, nor do I believe this generation will be as protracted as last generation. But the PS4 & XBO should both do well enough in the U.S. to at least match and probably exceed combined PS2 & Xbox sales (~61.4M according to NPD).

I believe the PS4 will sell higher than ur projections. Especially if the basis of it not doing so is "Japan". While the Japan market is shrinking, especially when u compare console sales today with those in the PS2 era, ROW sales are also increasing. I believe that the boom in Europe and rest of world sales more than make up for where Japan sales are falling short. I also believe that the ps4 will hit at least 8-10M in Japan by the end of this gen. That puts it at around PS3 Japan sales. which is around 60% of PS2 Japan sales at the end of the PS2 gen. which isn't bad.
