Forums - Gaming Discussion - Star Wars Battlefront was designed for 8 year olds

http://segmentnext.com/2015/12/08/star-wars-battlefront-lacks-depth-made-for-8-year-olds-too-says-ea-executive/

It is a fact that fans of the Star Wars franchise had higher hopes regarding Star Wars Battlefront. However, even before the game came out, a number of features were seen missing and that did not sit well with the community.

Even more so, when the game released, at least some of the fans complained that it lacks the depth that they would expect from such a game, considering that Electronic Arts was expected to go all-in with it.

This complaint might not have reciprocated by everyone who played the game (many are loving the newly released Battle of Jakku DLC too), but at least one Electronic Arts executive has braved the fact and agreed that the game might actually lack depth that some fans wanted.

More at the link. LOL. What a weird thing for an exec to say about a game. Not that it wasn't obvious from a gameplay perspective, but still.

This doesn't automatically mean the game is bad, unless you like balance and depth in your essentially online only shooters.

Throw me to the Sarlacc if old.

Pretty awful title.

Here is what he actually said:

"We had designed it to be a much more accessible product to a wide age group. So, an eight-year-old could play with his father on the couch, as well as a teenager or 20-year-old could play the game and enjoy it. It is more accessible. And for the hardcore, it may not have the depth that they wanted in the game."

Way to take what he said out of context lol.

The real question here is why was a game rated by pegi as 16 and over be made in a such a way that it is easy enough to be played by an eight year old?

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

I am just annoyed that some people think that in order for this game to have more "depth" is for it to be more violent and graphic. Being T rated is the least of its (minor) problems. I thoroughly enjoy the game and am having a blast. I just want more maps for free.

Well it does say an 8year old playing with his/her father.... But wouldnt that be at least PG (Its rated M here in Australia. And PG is for Parental Guidance)

Pocky Lover Boy!

clickbait and pointlessly negative.

I havent seen anyone say that. The depth complaints revolve around the gameplay. Shallow gunplay, and mostly the just incredibly streamlined manner of the game.

Well I've been having fun so that's all I need

More accessible? They were just being lazy with it is all
