Press A + L at any moment to die.

The game is severely overwhelming, I mean, I struggled to beat a little level 8 crab at the beach when I was level 12. Can't imagine how the other bosses are going to be.

I'm loving the game so far, but I don't like any of the characters, the weird pauses between conversations, the tiny text and the very slow camera when you enter certain areas. But when you are outside NLA, the game is at another level.

First off, wow I don't even remember the last time I started a thread... hi everyone!

Ok, I've put just over 10 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles X and here my thoughts...

First off, it's huge. Almost overwelmingly huge. I've only explored a small part of the first continent and have 4 more to go. In many ways XCX actually feels like an MMO in scope. But it's not just the game world that's huge, it's the menus! You are given access to so much information from the get go that it's frankly too much. 10 hours in and I'm just starting to grasp the scope of everything I need to juggle to optimise my character. This was an issue in XC Wii too but that game did a much better job of explaining things than XCX.

Speaking of XC Wii, that game had much more focus on story than XCX, in fact once you hit chapter 3-4 the story kinda goes out the window (and remember I'm 10 hours in). Oddly enough though, XCX has much better writting than the original and the english dub is amazing.

Also, I'm nowhere near understanding all the 'social' elements in XCX, right now I'm pretending they dont exist.

Anyway that's all I can think to right down right now. If you guys have any questions about the early goings of XCX please let me know!

Thanks,

Edit - if I had to give it a score (using the old VGC scale - 9.1 / 10)

im like 20 hours in. ANd things like story will be mindblowing in chapter 5. like holy damn that blew my mind xD Also many thing will make way more sense when you get into it and stuff. To fully master the game maybe it takes a couple 100 of hours. but this is not a game you think you can master in a couple of hours. and i like it.

If its so huge then whats the best way of traversing the world since Skells use fuel?

Fast travel; tap on a hexagon with one of the little orange icons and warp to it.

Wait, is it actual warping!? If so that would be so fucking hype. :O

Damn! How do I save? Played 30 minutes and now I am at the intro cinema again....

same with XC, there are a lot of cut scenes if you played those story missions. how do you save, there is always the manual save button when you pause.

Oh, didn't see it. Not sure why it doesn't just save automatically. Maybe that is the norm for Rpgs? Quick note, I thought jrpg meant junior role playing game up until two weeks ago.....

Sounds like you haven't upgraded your gear or skills/arts.

Kinda OT, loving the game. working towards getting my skell now (story mission 5 done), 1 mission left (hunting a rare monster) and then the 'final exam' whatever that is :)
I want to quit my job and play this for a week straight :P

when it rains, there is a debuff on your squad. Have you increased the level of you arts using battle points? It helps to kill enemies easier.  I have a few deaths like in the prologue I'm with Elma and we are at both level 6 and killing that big creature which is also level 6.

I agree with you. A lot of info to learn , but with patience I'm learning. 12 hours in, chapter 4 and still learning the battle system. Anyway, the game is difficult but not frustrating (at least not where I am).

I love that so far the main point it's to explore and I bought because the exploration trailer.

I upgraded until now (level 13) but the soul voice system make it easier to beat enemies. I have defeated enemies above my level, but not that above (14-15).

Yeah, you tap the icon, there's a brief loading screen, and you reappear at the location you tapped.
