Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does Square Enix alone have better games in the pipeline then nintendo?

Which Publisher has the better lineup?

Square Enix 129 61.43%

Nintendo 81 38.57%

Total:210

From basil's list SE destroys Nintendo in that regard.

Well to be fair we only know what Nintendo has lined up for next year while some of the listed Square-Enix games are most likely 2017 titles and we don't know what a bunch of Nintendo's internal teams are up to like EAD Group 1, EAD Tokyo, Retro Studios, etc which should have games out by 2017.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Square Enix currently has the best lineup of games than any publisher IMO.

How is metroid not AAA? The budgets for the games are probably some of the highest of any Nintendo game.

Well, as a series it isn't. Doubt Federation Force can be considered AAA. But as you said, I don't really care about that.

That is like saying Zelda isn't an AAA series because of link's crossbow training, four swords adventure, or triforce heroes. Series don't have budgets, individual games do.

One must also remember that many of the games on Square's list are being developed by other studios.

Tomb Raider: Crystal Dynamics
Star Ocean 5: Tri-ace
NieR: Platinum Games
Deus Ex: Eidos

The ones that are on Square Enixe's own plate are Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Dragon Quest XI and Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
The first two have been in development for a long time, and are presumably not that far from completion. Final Fantasy XV was announced to be playable from beginning to end, a few days ago. And that around 50% of that is polished to "finished game" status. And Kingdom Hearts III will probably be out 2017 at the latest.
As for Final Fantasy 7, they're no doubt aiming for a 2017 release because that's FF7's 20th anniversary. But I don't think they'll make that deadline.

2017 is a long time. Nintendo can announce ten games that release before then.

As for whether or not SE has a better lineup, one must remember that SE announces games that won't release for many years. Nintendo doesn't. For that reason it is better to look at the past in any point to determine output, not the future. SE hasn't been releasing stuff for years that was high quality.

One must also remember that many of the games on Square's list are being developed by other studios.

To be fair Nintendo has used other developers to make some of their bigger games as well.  HAL laboratory for SSB or Retro for DK Tropical Freeze and Metroid Prime games.  Capcom once worked on a Zelda game, and it was actually pretty good.

The story and presentation side of Nier Automata will be developed by SE in house I believe so half and half for that.  Gotta check on that..

Damn, I'm nostalgic for a SMRPG remake now.

Lube Me Up

The comparision is kind of unfair, at this point Square.Enix has a better lineup than Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony put together.

Zelda U alone tops the majority of Square-Enix's offerings for me.

Well except FF7R, my hype cant be dwindled for that, not even against Zelda lol

Currently announced? Yes. In the pipeline? Like ones actually already in development? Hell no. Nintendo has a shit ton of things being developed behind the scenes.

I understand that but you simply said "metroid" as AAA. The only game by that name is the NES game. Sure, prime 1-3 are. Just be more spefic when you say Metroid because no upcoming Metroid game that we know of is running through a high budget.
