Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does Square Enix alone have better games in the pipeline then nintendo?

Which Publisher has the better lineup?

Square Enix 129 61.43%

Nintendo 81 38.57%

Total:210

We all know that the wii u has very bad third party support and it sucks. Most prev. nintendo home consoles did.

But there were always the nintendo games, that make the system worthy.

For now, I think Sqaure Enix (just one from many third party developer) has a better lineup then nintendo.

SE: Rise of the Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy 15, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Kingdom Hearts III, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD textures Port, Dragon Quest XI

Nintendo: Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Zelda Twilight Princess HD texture port, Zelda Wii U

If one single third party developer alone has more great games then nintendo, is there really still a place for a nintendo console?

It also looks like SE has alot more big studios to work on great big games.

Edit:

even if we say both companies would have equal games quality whise, dont forget SE is just ONE third party publisher for systems like the ps4.

You will also have bethesda games, rockstars (gta), witcher, ubisoft, ea, konami (metal gear), Activision + sony/microsofts own exclusives lineup.

Also considering ps4/xbox one are almost same price as wii u  AND are technically WAY advanced in terms of performance, thats really ridiclous right?

PS: i own a wii u, love it. But thinking about this feels .. uhm..

This isn't something you can say yes or not to because tastes vary but, there isn't a developer on this earth who churns out more quality games than Nintendo.

i dont see the point of this...

And Square-enix sux, everybody knows thaat btw

Easily Square Enix as far as potential goes ...

There's always a place for a Nintendo console.

But it's pretty obvious that SE has a better line up than everybody right now. They also have almost unquestionably the top 3 most anticipated games all to themselves. Although I don't think many on this site are going to take too kindly to this topic. It wasn't just a year or two ago that SE was in deep shit with everyone over a 4-5 year period of questionable choices. However, things change it seems.

I have always been somewhat anti-nintendo. I'm not a troll or anything, as I feel I always have strong logical reasons backing my opinions of them. So it will come as no surprise to any if I say I don't see the reason for a Nintendo console anymore.

I don't know about directly comparing SE to ninty tho as far as games go. But I know this. To me, buying a Nintendo console is literally like buying an Activision console, SE console or ubisoft console. Yes you may be really into their games and get them every once in a while and lots of filler in between, but to me it doesn't justify having a console just for that.

What makes the PS4/XB1 more "mainstream" than Nintendo is not cause their first part makes better games overall, but is that their first party makes great games and you have access to all the other great third party games out there.

dare I say Nintendo would be better off if they went third party. IF I were Nintendo, I would make my AAA games go third party and keep my handheld console business then open up that platform to everyone. including Sony and Microsoft. Just a thought though.

Nintendo has a lot more games in pipeline than the one you listed.

As a Nintendo fan, I must say Square Enix. I mean really, Amiibo Festival, Ultra Smash, Paper Jam!!! These games don't amount to FFVII:R, FFXV, Dragon Quest XI (PS4 Version), Kingdom Hearts III...I mean come on. If it weren't for Zelda U Nintendo'd have nothing to really show in the upcoming year.

PS: I still love Nintendo.

I think that's just the problem. Nintendo isn't just a AAA churning machine. Their biggest games are basically Zelda and Mario and every other gen metroid joins that list. That's not to say they don't make many other games but those other games usually fall into the AA or even A size category.

I mean Sony has just off the top of my head; GT, Infamous, Bloodborne, the order, uncharted, the last of us,killzone, drive club, horizon, Detroit, GoW...etc that are all games with budgets well over $30M. And this isn't even mentioning all the smaller PSN stuff like journey...etc. Nintendo just just isn't that kinda company. Its just not in their DNA.

It used to be in their DNA witih NES-64 days. I think with Iwata, they changed scope and some worked out and some didn't work out. Zelda, Smash, 2D/3D Mario, Pokemon and Mario Kart are their go to AAA games. Metroid, not so much but definitely AA. If Nintendo can survive like this, which they have been doing, I'm happy for them and I'll buy their AAA content. Nintendo could easily match Square Enix if they tried...well maybe not easily, but they could put up a good fight.
