Forums - Gaming Discussion - E-sports the biggest megaton to come from PSX

I don't know how come no one else has caught onto this.

E-sports is about to become a thing. ESPN is going to cover it, PlayStation is providing the consoles to game on it so are partners and there is a $3M pool for COD. capcom cup, which is basically SF, with an over $300k pool is also a PlayStation exclusive.

I think this is going to become a very very big deal especially when other games get into the E-sports league. the PlayStation would literally become like buying a soccer/football in the eyes of anyone that feels they have a shot. I for one know I'm gonna take tekken 7 more seriously than ever before.

I think this is a stealth megaton. One of those things no one will pay attention to cause we have nothing to compare it to. What do u guys think?

The CoD thing was known for a while already. Still, if Sony wants to get into eSports they need a PS4 exclusive title fit for competitive play IMO.

''E-sports is about to become a thing'' Lol welcome back to 2012 lol
League finals get more views than the nhl finals and nba finals

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

not on consoles. And not with a prize pool like this. and not on broadcast TV. This is the literal example of something going mainstream.

A bit late to the party, especially considering the E-sports scene has been a thing on PC for years and makes big money and scenes.

Regardless of the posts moving, it's still a big thing on PC and it's a pretty known scene.

Already had that, PS4 being used for the World League was announced months ago and PS4 was named "the home of Call of Duty eSports".

And why exactly are you bringing up PC? Everyone knows esports is on PC, literally, since it started on PC. For some reason you have to bring up PC in almost every conversation don't you?

Dota 2 prize pool was 18 million for 2015 and 11 million for 2014, league at 2 million for both years. league as 64 million monthly players, you still think that's niche?

edit: ho you are talking about console only, my bad
