Forums - General Discussion - Hateful threads.

I think that mods should refrain from starting or posting in threads that bash any religion on this video game sales website.

I also think that any mods and users associating with known groups of hackers and intellectual property pirates should be banned

We may not agree with a religion, and this can be a place to discuss it; but remember there are ways to discuss it and ways that are inappropriate.

Associating with know groups of hackers or encouraging the cyber-crime against any legal entity or person should be a perma-ban; if for nothing more than to protect the site from legal action.

Piracy is illegal, whether you like it or not. Whether it is games or any other copyrighted material discussion the thread should be locked and anyone encouraging piracy (while it is still illegal) or teaching methods should be banned. If copying-copy protected materials is the issue of discussion you can argue for or against it by discussing legality and legislation, without encouraging illegal activities.

I am leaving VGChartz for now, because the wrong people are getting banned.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

ok so you expect us mods to ban the entire site due to everyone here at least downloading one song? then ban ourselves? thats a brilliant idea, not. Way to kill an overall great community.

As for assosiating with hackers, its our member's lives and choices to deal with them. We have no right to police the world for what our members do.

Piracy may be illegal but there is no way to stop it. Its much easier to accept it in our daily lives then try to eliminate something that has been going on for several centuries now in some form or another.

And anyone who has been banned has been full discussed by the entire mod team.  All bans stand. If you have that big of a problem with the bans pease feel free to leave but you do not have to. It is your choice.

@Superchunk - that was no the reason.

I think that mods should refrain from starting or posting in threads that bash any religion on this video game sales website.  Why should mods refrain from posting their views in threads so long as they obey the forum code of conduct like everyone else?

I also think that any mods and users associating with known groups of hackers and intellectual property pirates should be banned  Why?  If you know someone who shoplifts, should YOU no longer be allowed in stores?

We may not agree with a religion, and this can be a place to discuss it; but remember there are ways to discuss it and ways that are inappropriate.  Why should a forum dedicated to video games be a place to discuss religion?  Aren't there more appropriate places for that?

Associating with know groups of hackers or encouraging the cyber-crime against any legal entity or person should be a perma-ban; if for nothing more than to protect the site from legal action.  Do you actually understand what a website owner is liable for?

Piracy is illegal, whether you like it or not. Whether it is games or any other copyrighted material discussion the thread should be locked and anyone encouraging piracy (while it is still illegal) or teaching methods should be banned. If copying-copy protected materials is the issue of discussion you can argue for or against it by discussing legality and legislation, without encouraging illegal activities.  This is a place to discuss issues relating to video games, among which is piracy.  vgChartz already has a policy against posting certain kinds of material.  Not much more is really necessary.

I am leaving VGChartz for now, because the wrong people are getting banned.  Yay?

Perma? Really ssj12, why the secrecy?
It isn't that hard to cite the reason why weezy was perma banned.

@ WoW

God, you are so full of win.

That was AWESOME.

While I may agree that its bad form to start threads (or keep posting in) that are mean spirited and geared towards a specific group or user, I also recognize the importance of maintaining site diversity.
If we were to create and maintain a strict regime on these forums, we'd loose users fast, and tying personal issues and relations to your degree of welcome on an internet forum seems like a bad idea.
In fact; that would be discrimination, the same kind offered by aforementioned threads in my opinion, so the idea falls on its own unfairness in my view of things.

These are just a few feelings of mine, and are in no way representative of the site as a whole, but I do think that most could agree that adding these rules would dampen the experience and ultimately hamper the proggression of ioi's site.
