Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pachter is a Hater

Nintendo did a lot things wrong this generation...
Why should he praise them?

Around the Network

He hates playstation too. But it's so similar to his beloved xbox that he can't say all that much.

Pachter is an anagram for PC hater.
Think about it.

Excellent lol Never thought about that !

He is an old fashioned analyst. Short term profits is his motto.

But I do gather he falls victim to social trends/feelings WAY too easily and as a result just naturally expects Nintendo to do terrible.

Isn't it obvious?

He never says anything nice about Nintendo, acts like he wants them to fail, tries to pressure them into business decisions that might actually hurt them, and yet we don't hear about him hating on either Xbox or PlayStation.

Michael Pachter just hates Nintendo, plain and simple.

The sky is blue.

Sorry, I thought this was a "state the obvious" thread.

Actually, that's not fair. It's not strictly that he hates Nintendo. He probably has no personal feelings at all regarding Nintendo. But whoever pays him for his PR services view Nintendo as a threat. Remember, while he may be employed as an analyst at Wedbush, anything he says publicly should be taken as PR and not analysis, because any analysis that is of value would be given to those who pay him and the company, not released publicly for free. So if he makes any sort of "analysis" public, it's not real analysis, it's something he's being paid to say.

This is why, at various times, he's also massively criticised both Microsoft and Sony, but only when their positions on something are against the third parties. It's always about how, if they want to do better, they need to lower the price of the hardware, even if that lowering would result in lower net profit for the company.

I'm not sure which company (or possibly companies) are paying for his PR services, but I'm confident it's a third party publisher.

Pachter was convinced that PSV would be more successful than 3DS. Just one of his many other bias prediction.

I think he wants them to make him a quick buck in short term decisions. Hes an investor himself i think

This.

They are too unpredictable, therefore he can't make money off them. He doesn't like that, wich is what makes him "hate" Nintendo.

That was an example, I thought it was obvious... Apparently not. Shall I explain the example in even simpler terms? Also, you seems to have statistics available since you're so sure he's right 10 % of the time. Would you mind sharing them?

The need for exact figures misses the point.  Just type into Google "pachter is wrong".

Are you seriously either not familiar with him or actually sticking up for him?  I really want to know.

Oh, I'm familiar with him. I just don't trust gut feelings and such. He gets a lot of publicity, and thus even his incorrect predictions gain more publicity. For all I know, he could have a ton of successful predictions, but because people always focus on his incorrect predictions, it's hard to know how often he's actually right or wrong. Like I said, if he has a hundred incorrect predictions but makes a thousand predictions in total, that's a lot of incorrect predictions but the success rate is still 90 %. It's the ration of incorrect and correct predictions that matters, not the absolute number of incorrect predictions. Unless you can tell how often he's right/how many predictions he makes in total, the number of his incorrect predictions is absolutely and utterly worthless.
