Microsoft doesn't want peace, they want to be Apple in the computer realm, just like they want to be Sony in the gaming realm. They want their main competitions attention. Thats what they want. Looks like they got it LOL

I think MS is secretly depressed and covers this up by trying to be the center of attention and putting on an outgoing personality :P

You know what they say....

He who screams the loudest is the most insecure.

Bruh, clearly MS is trying to piggy back off of Apple's success by doing this. No way, Apple is the clear leader in sales and MS just has so much time on their hands that they had to get their employees to do something. Oh wait, MS wants to be like Apple that's it, sorry MS, everyone is wise to your game here.

I just thought this was cool and lighthearted.

Just think if Apple had any kind of charity program that Microsoft does. Maybe they could have cured Jobs' cancer.

I thought it was Bill Gates who had a charity not MS.

Microsoft have known decades upon decades of success, while Apple have really only risen up to be a colossus major player in the last decade or so after floundering through the mid 80s to late 90s (kept in business by Bill Gates no less!).

There's a lot of talk of the rivalry between the two - but these guys have been basically in business together since they started, and are a lot friendlier than a lot of us fans would like to believe after all. It's a long, long game for these two - and while one may make more millions than the other from one year to the next - they're both making millions - consistently (give or take) - for DECADES.

If there wasn't Pepsi, Coke would have to invent it. Liverpool v Manchester United, Hogan v Savage, Yankees vs Red Sox, Bulls vs Lakers - these rivalries lift everyone. A great hero needs great villains. We the people demand some drama in our rivalries, and in the digital age - we've got staff of corporations adding some colour and heat. Nothing too snarky or smug, almost a little self mocking.

Good work. And I'm saying that if you believe "Go Apple!" or "Go Microsoft!". Good work for - to use some wrestling parlance - going for the pop with some comedy heat.

@BasilZero - to extend the BK/McDonalds metaphor - is it maybe just a bit like KFC employees going to Popeye's (I guess it'd be Red Rooster in Australia) in full KFC staff uniform and singing of the secret herbs and spices they could have?

But that said - they have, and always will sell their software on Apple platforms, so I think that was the kind of team up they were hinting at. Buy our stuff that works with yours tra la la la la - la la la la.

The Bill Gates foundation has done some pretty amazing things, even a fraction of huge companies wealth going to help those most in need makes such a huge difference.... but I'm not sure is the key to cancer a big wad of cash? it could be, but only time will tell.

I think this will help to promote M$'s apps on iOS. It's like saying, "We can work together peacefully. Buy a Mac, it's cool. Our software is on there too." A sign of peace, with some underlying motive. Genius

It's a huge tax write-off (Don't judge.), but it does help others.  And I think it was Melida Gates who orginally masterminded it.
