I didn't say that those western games are not good. just that their sales have a lot to do with the marketing behind them which Japanese games don't have.

Can't remember which one, but one Call of Duty had a marketing budget of $200 million.

Yeah that's more or less what I was thinking when you look at the overall market and general shift that's happened over there.

No offense, but this isn't surprising, nor anything new.

For many decades, on average, Japanese development studios have put out higher quality experiences than Western devs. That isn't universal, especially if you consider how shitty Capcom, Konami, Square, Sega, etc. have been in recent years. But in general, that has traditionally been the case.

Part of the problem, is that many western devs have adopted the ideal that they don't have to release a finished, polished product. They can just "fix it" or patch it or update it later, instead of taking the time to actually make a good game from the get go. And another part of the problem, is that many western devs are too focused these days on making a "cinematic experience", with a focus on graphics and feeble attempts at "serious storytelling" (that usually comes off like cheeseball direct-to-video fare), instead of focusing on gameplay and polish.

Define dying? not outselling the US? then i have news for you it never sold more consoles than the US in its history. Japan is number 2 its undeniable, they outproduce the UK in games production and probably allready outsold in console sales as well.

And since when are people meassuring consumption over production, i see defeniatley more japanese console manufactors, games and publishers than from other western countries if you take out the US out

Same with Smartphone gaming, not everybody play Angry Bird, Clash of Clan, Candy Crush and other free2play. They play Final Fantasy, GT San Andreas, Sonic, Call of Duty, XCOM, Portal and other non-free2play games as well. Just not at much as those free2play.

Don't get me wrong btw, im just glad that the Japanese games are still strongly present in the gaming community ;).

Japan as a country are rejecting consoles. Thats why the PS4 only sold areound 2 million there. That is very low.

I wouldn't rerly soley on stat sites tbh, I mean if we do that then all PC gamers do is play MMO's and Mobas and that is factually untrue, stat sites aren't entirely up to date on what's becoming popular to what is now popular, especially with that site going with numebr of users while ignoring the entire numebr of users on every single other game on PC (because if we face the reality they cnanot keep an eye on every single game on PC but that's the point in which they are ignoring the challenge of trying).

I'm not reading you wrong though, I just feel that we tend to play a lot more than Mobas and MMO's =P.
