For me it doesn't offer anything compelling that I can't get elsewhere.

What games do you enjoy? PS4 has a lot of genres to offer.

Gaming in general is going in a direction I do not enjoy. Neither the AAA blockbuster nor the indie alternative offer much of appeal to me. I also don't really like cinematic or story-focussed games. It's hard to describe, but there's a certain freshness that just feels missing from like 95% of current gen games. Everything feels like a copy of a copy of a copy.

This isn't an attack on the PS4 specifically; Xbox One doesn't interest me either, and even Wii U isn't really keeping me satisfied.

Modern gaming just isn't really my cup of tea anymore; I've spent far more time this generation playing games from previous ones than current gen fare. I guess I'm just a grumpy child of the 4th gen whose tastes have gone out of style.

Obviously. It will start happening next year, with Sony coming out with the latest entries in their biggest franchises like Uncharted 4, and Gran Turismo. Then they have some interesting looking new IPs from their first party studios like Horizon, The Last Guardian, Dreams. On top of that there's some other medium sized exclusives like Hotshot's Golf, Rachet and Clank, Gravity Rush 2, etc.

That's not counting all the 3rd party exclusives, Street Fighter V will make sure every fighting game fan gets a PS4, and JRPG fans don't have a choice either.

Also some truly exceptional looking "indies" like No Man's Sky, WiLD, The Tomorrow Children, Rime.

XB1 on the other hand I believe has reached it's peak this year. Their big exclusives like Halo and Forza have failed to turn the tide, only one left is Gears, and that being passed on to a new unproven developer is likely to make it drop in popularity like Halo.

PS4 literally has every gamer's taste covered as far as I can see, there's no reason to not get one.

...with Microsoft coming out with the latest entries in their biggest franchises like Gears of War and Crackdown. Then they have some interesting looking new IPs like ReCore, Quantum Break and Scalebound. On top of that there's some other medium sized exclusives like Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars, Phantom Dust.

Also some truly exceptional looking "indies" like Cuphead, Ashen, Tacoma, Everspace

...only one left is Horizon: Zero Dawn, and that being passed on to a shaky developer who developed bad games like Shellshock: Nam 67 and so-so games like the first Killzone and Shadow Fall, is unsure of how that'll turn up.

See what I did there? The same thing as you. It's pretty easy making lists.

I have no interest in a PS4, and there are many other people like me. I am very interested in the One, and have yet to get it.

I think swooping generalizations like these are ridiculous. Sure, the Xbox is never going to catch up the PS4, but it's not going anywhere. Didn't people say that it would die since 2013? But yet it is still having healthy sales and is outpacing the 360, so  ending with a 60-95 millions sales (depending on how long this gen is) is far from bad. The Wii U didn't suddenly implode, it was selling poorly from the start. The PS3 didn't suddenly explode and outsold the 360 in one year, it sold steadily just a little bit more, etc. you get the idea. The trend for One has already been set and the Xbox One will continue to outpace the 360. Systems sales in most cases don't suddenly implode until the end of the generation.  The only third party exclusives or PS4 will be from Japan, and apart from these, all other third party developers will continue developing for the One.

As much as some of you would love the idea of the One falling a cliff, it's not, with some of its most interesting titles coming out next year.

How is it anything like 7th gen with the tables turned? That would suggest PS4 getting the early lead with XB1 later overtaking it, that's not likely at all.

My description makes a lot of sense, PS4 winning easily, XB1 is competitive in America but nowhere else and Wii U is in a distant 3rd primarily sold to hardcore fans.

It is when you remember it overtook it when the gen was over, so it isn't that hard to believe...

Yes but it was slowly chopping away the lead little by little over the course of the generation, that is something that won't happen for XB1 because of its borderline irrelevance outside of the US/UK.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I find the PS4 list some people posting misleading. A lot of those games are not going to be released in 2016.

From what I've seen no one has posted any list. And yes, actually, most of the games are 2016, of the 35+ exclusives(not including indies) majority of them are 2016 except a few games like Detroit and WiLD.

Dude you're buggin'.lol

The games coming from Sony next year are coming from Developers who have consistently delivered critically acclaimed and commercially successful titles.

Uncharted 4- Naughty Dog: Uncharted 2/3 and Last of Us are among most critically acclaimed games of all time, all scoring 90+ on Metacritic.

Gran Turismo- Polyphony Digital, This game is the go to Car Simulator for people who are in that genre, it's always loved by it's fans which number in 10s of millions.

Horizon- Gurrilla Games: Killzone never turned into the Halo Killer it was supposed to be but Killzone 2 and 3 are very well received games, Killzone 2 has a 90 on Metacritic. And they hired people from CD Prject, and Obsidian for this game, including Fallout New Vegas' lead writer.

Dreams- Media Molecule, I personally don't get their games, but LittleBigPlanet 2/3 were among the highest rated games last gen scoring over 90 on metacritic.

The Last Guardian- Team Ico: Both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus have scored over 90 on metacritic and these games are always in the running as the best of all time.

Street Fighter V- It's the premier fighting game franchise, though I prefer Tekken myself.

Now in contrast games coming from MS don't have the same talent behind them.

Gears 4- The Coalition: A rookie developer who doesn't have anyting to it's name. And a Studio MS didn't deem capable enough to create their own game, but rather make a sequel to something that's already there. It's another 343i situation so the same result can be expected.

Quantum Break- Remedy: They've made Max Payne and Alan Wake. The most critically well received was the first May Payne and even that couldn't Pass 90, and every game since has gone down in both critical acclaim and sales.

ReCore- This has Kenji Inafune's name on it, but he's been putting his name on a lot of questionable things in the recent years, the best thing to do is stay cautious.

Crackdown: Another unknown developer working on a sequel, but this time the IP is not as good as Gears or Halo, but a rather mediocre one that neither scores well nor sells much.

Scalebound- Platinum Games, This studio is hit or miss, they can deliver a critically acclaimed title or a huge dud. They're also working on Nier 2 for PS4.

Halo Wars- It's another Halo spinoff if the main game didn't do much to save XB1 then a spinoff sure as hell won't make a dent.

Phantom Dust- This game is not happening, the first one sold like crap, there was no reason to reboot this, and seems MS realized that too.

Sea of Thieves- Rare: They haven't made a real game in a while. The've been a shovelware maker for years now.

MS is really lacking in getting good talent to make games, while Sony owns top of the ladder developers. Almost all of whom have delvered highly criticlly acclaimed titles. The games that made PS3 outsell 360 despite launching a year later.

Imagine if XB1 launched a year after PS4, it would never be able to get off the ground.

MS is too big, too rich, with so many resources to let the Xbox One fall off a cliff.

I see this as repeat of the N64 gen. Back then it sold well in America but bad elsewhere. Now you have the xbox selling well in the US but bad elsewhere.

Yeah, just like N64... except...

X1 will sell significantly more than N64 in both US and Europe. X1 could double N64's lifetime sales at this rate.
X1 shares significantly more titles with PS4 than N64 and PS1.
X1's hardware is very similar to PS4 making multiplats relatively easy, while all 5th gen platforms hardware differed greatly.
X1 uses discs and downloads to distribute games (cheap mediums), not expensive cartridges. Thus making support more affordable.
X1 has more support and will have significantly more games than N64 ever had.

But yeah, outside of those minor details. X1 is a total repeat of N64.

No you are going to fall of a cliff

Sure... just like the PS3 fell off a cliff after its abysmal start last gen and getting trounced in sales by the Wii and 360 early on... oh wait.

The days of a single console dominating a gaming generation are long over. Those wishing for a repeat of the 6th gen where PlayStation gets all the big 3rd party releases all to themselves while Nintendo and M$ are left in the dust to duke it out over scraps for a distant 2nd are in for a rude awakening. Sony might be running away on their home turf in Europe and Japan, but despite the terrible pre-launch PR and $100 higher price point, the sales gap between the X1 and the PS4 in North America is less than a million. As long as the X1 keeps pace with the PS4 in its strongest region, it won't be going near any cliffs anytime soon.
