All of that is kinda irrelevant to what he said, he's just talking about sales in which case he's right. XB1 sells well and is competitive with PS4 in America, not so much in other regions, just like N64.

Here's the thing. Xbox has always had more success in the US than Europe. Also, Xbox isn't as dead in Europe as people seem to think. Its getting trounced by PS4, but its not doing as bad as N64 either. I'm thinking X1 do 15 million in Europe. A far cry from N64's 6 million. If N64 managed to do 15 million in Europe, that would have been a great success.

Long term it's too early to tell. I do believe it's sales will be horrible for the January-March quarter next year.

It already fell, really. It's just MS is tying balloons to it to keep it afloat. While Xbox has a showing in the US and UK, it could be healthier. MS has put a ton of money back into this system for damage control and fishing for good coverage. But, I know MS didn't want to be in a position where they had to add constant freebies to get the consoles to move. MS's strategy is devaluing their market in the US a bit. People are becoming more conditioned to wait on frequent bargains rather than taking a chance and buying consoles and their games.

That's no big deal to MS, who just wants to keep the brand alive while having lots of cash to burn, but there has to be some remaining profitability.

No, despite XboxOne is selling worse than PS4, XboxOne is still selling better than Xbox360 did.

Xbox One isn't doing bad overall. But it's not in a good state outside UK and of course US.
It wont fall of the cliff. but without MS really managing to do better in continental europe it will fall behind the 360 soon enough.
Here's where MS needs to do way, way better than they are right now. And that will be extremely tough.

Xbox is going no where. The biggest gaming line up in history (Games, games, games) whilst the competition was selling more and more remasters.

More games to come in 2016.

the xbox one will be more than alright, remember, you're talking about a bodypart of Microsoft, the biggest software company in the world, and what is video games ? Software.

So how'd the original xbox do

Time changed,  back then when Sony was MUCH BIGGER and the PS2 was just rekting everybody.

It wasnt even PS2 v. Xbox. More like PS2 v. Xbox/GCB/Dreamcast. But, the dominance of PS2 will never repeat as the xbox brand this time got a much larger fanbase and popularity over all than before.

Another factor is PC market & Smartphone market. At the time, gaming was very limited. It happen mostly on consoles and the PS2 was the "cool thing" for gaming like PC gaming of today. You get the biggest library of video games and the best of the West & East/Japanese Exclusives. Sony was also like Samsung of today, the biggest electronic company in the world.

And now, gaming is more diverse & bigger than ever, it's no longer mostly on consoles but instead, on PC and smartphones.

Meanwhile the top selling Xbox One bundle this holiday has been the Gears of War bundle which includes a remaster and a bunch of emulated 360 games.

XB1 will likely get more 3rd party support than XB, but I highly doubt it'll sell more units than the first XBOX.

I predict 35 million max units sold before MS comes out with a successor.

^ This. As i've always said on VGChartz. Based on Sony's sales track record and reception, there is little Microsoft can do to them when they start the generation off on the right foot.
