Granted I have only had the system hooked up for about 48 hours so my experience is rather limited. As the Wii U is my main gaming system right now I will compare those two a lot.

Positivies:

  • Lots of games. I mean there are tons of it, I have barely scratched the surface and while I browse I take a note of the game and add it to my list of games to explore when the time is right.
  • Compared to the Wii U the hardware is extraordinary. Pretty happy that I got the 1TB edition since everything takes a ton of memory lol =)
  • Achievements. I was thinking about it before and have always been thinking it's a gimmick thing, granted I still think it's a gimmick but man am I enjoying that hah.
  • Voicechat. I havnt really been playing any games where I have needed it but I have been missing it on the Wii U so I am still using it as a positive.
  • The controller. I have played with it before but only limited time and at the time I wasnt a huge fan of it.. but as I continued to play with it it grew on me. Kind of like it now even though I still enjoy the Pro Controller for the Wii U more. Also where the hell is the R3 button? Some app asked me for it and I couldnt find it hehe.
  • Lots of stuff to explore.. Many applications.. Settings. God damnit I love settings!
Negatives
  • I think the PSN store is a bit messy. Much easier to explore the Nintendo E-Shop, but I guess once I get used to PSN it I will find it easier to use as well. It also lacks the awesome elevator music that is in the E-Shop.
  • Battery time on the Controller. While not really an issue (~8 hours of battery time is alot) when I am comparing it to the pro controller which has an 80 hour battery time it comes up short. I just have to get used to charge it after every sitting and it wont be a problem. With that said it's superior to the Gamepads 4 hour battery life.
  • One thing I really really miss is a list over how long an application have been running. on the 3DS and Wii U I can look up for ecactly how long I have played a game, watched youtube and so on. I hope they implement it at some point!
  • PSN is AWFULLY SLOW. I havnt had the chance to hook up an ethernet cable to the system so I am using WiFi and it's very very slow. I get about 0,3MBIT/s as a connection speed. All my other units hooked up on Wifi have proper speed (40MBIT/s). While I still always buy physical games it becomes an issue when I have to download gigabytes of patches to games when I launch them.
As mentioned this is just 2 days in to my system experience and overall I am quite happy! Hopefully some of these issues I have with it will solve themselves over time. Mostly I am very happy to be able to play some of the games I have been wanting to play for some times but havnt been on a Nintendo system.
Also another Negative I came up with. I got 2 friends on PSN (and neither really playes the games I do or will play) so if anyone is playing the mentioned games feel free to add me! PSN: DR_Mbolibombo

R3--just click the right analog stick!

Lol!

Thanks for the quick response. Whenever anybody buys a new console, I like to see how they're impressions compare to my opinions.  This was a pretty good summary.  If you want, come back later and give us an update on how you feel. And congratulations on the new hardware!

Welcome to the winning team.

Yeah the store is a bit messy to look up for stuff  but the worst part is that it wasnt like that.  It was much easier to navigate a few months ago.

Have you ever played a MGS game? You could check MGSV even if not, as seems like the gameplay is really fun.

And definitely try Bloodborne.

There is an indie game you might like if you are a 8/16 bit Metroid guy: Axiom Verge
Another indie, that you may already have on Wii U though, is Shovel Knight.

If you like Strategy RPGs I would recomend Disgaea 5, but not now, as you said you'll be going for XCX and want a smaller game and Disgaea may end up being more time consuming than XCX if you end liking it.

Anyway, enjoy you PS4

Holy shit! I saw 30 seconds of gameplay and then I ran to the Playstation. That games is right up my alley. Thanks a ton!

fun fact... that game was made by one guy...
