Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm not getting Xenoblade Chronicles X because it's too confusing.

Yes, if everything you mentioned is something that confuses you, then it is probably a good choice to not play Xenoblade X or JRPGs in general :/

You sound like you don't know what contradicting means.  And your understanding of how opinions work may be fuzzy as well.

Opinions can be interesting or uninteresting, and can provide information, or not provide much information.   The opinion of the Wind Up Bird Chronicle (a great book) contains a good deal of information, and can lead to interesting conversations.  The opinion I like Skittles does not.  This is not my subjective opinion as the amount of information in each of those opinions is quantifiable.  If we had the time and inclination, we could absolutely come up with an accurate figure to convey how much information is contained within each of those.

To further the objective of promoting interesting topics, most communites have rules.  It's why we lock certain topics, and don't lock others.  It's why we frown on posts that say "So and so game sucks" and encourage posts that say "element x of a game is flawed because..."

If I made a topic titled "I like Hot dogs", then made a topic that said "Green is my favorite color", then made a topic that says "My Cat's breath smells bad", would you consider this a worthwhile addition to the site?  If I was banned for this (which I should be) would you rush to my defense saying, "These opinions are equally interesting and worthwhile as any other?"  I would hope not.

In the case of this topic, "I don't like this game cause there's lots of stuff in it" doesn't really convey much information, or lead anywhere.  It's an issue of pure preference, which is the least interesting class of opinions.   And this user has made several such topics in recent days.

But, perhaps you think "I like Skittles" is a worthwhile and interesting topic to discuss.  If so, I hope we are never stuck together in a long car ride.

You're right, I meant you were being a hypocrite.

Do you even know what you're saying? You're saying this guys opinion is not needed because you didn't find it valuable. I said you can say that for every thread, and that's true because not everyone will find someone's opinion valuable. That's how opinions work. Are you really going to say that this man's opinion is not needed but the opinion of a book must be for everyone? No, that's ridiculous. The world does not work that way, the whole world is NEVER going to unanimously agree on something. You think if someone says Rape is wrong that everyone will agree with that? Nope, there will be people that will disagree. That's why you're being a hypocrite.

I like skittles is absolutely a subjective opinion. Do you even know what subjective means? It literally means one man's opinion and that man likes skittles, however, there are people who don't like skittles. It's a subjective opinion.

Yes, I know what subjective means.  Can you point out where I used the word incorrectly?  Can you show me where I said that "I like Skittles" is not a subjective opinion? Because honestly, it doesn't seem like you're actually responding to anything I wrote.  It seems like you're having an entirely different conversation.

I didn't discuss whether or not I agreed with his opinion at all, nor did I indicate that whether or not I agreed with an opinion had anything to do with whether it was worth making a topic about.  So I'm pretty baffled as to why you're talking about whether or not something is unanimous.

The issue is not that I disagree.  The issue is that there is no need to post his preference.  You can't argue with a preference or really discuss it.  He doesn't like complicated games?  Good for him.  That's his preference so what can I really say?  I can't disagree with it, I can't provide reasons its wrong... It is what it is.  So why do we need a topic for that, especially when there have been topics about the game and will be more in the future?  We don't need this topic, and there are plenty of other sarcastic comments that seem to agree.

Again, if I made a topic that says "I don't like the way my cat's breath smells", that's an opinion right?  But whether I'm right or wrong, does that opinion warrant a topic here?

If you feel strongly about continuing this, you can re-read my last post, and respond to what I actually said.  Otherwise, this is a waste of time.

"The opinion I like Skittles does not.  This is not my subjective opinion as the amount of information in each of those opinions is quantifiable." You're clearly saying I like Skittles is not your subjective opinion, it is. You did discuss whether or not you agreed with his opinion when you said his thread wasn't needed, that's you clearly saying his opinion on XCX is not needed.

EDIT: you can check my next post, I admit I misread what you said about the skittles part, but not the rest.

"nor did I indicate that whether or not I agreed with an opinion had anything to do with whether it was worth making a topic about"

Lol are you being serious? That's literally what you said with your first post.

"Thank you for letting us know. Not to be rude, but it seems like many of the things you're posting simply do not need their own thread."

Lol this you clearly saying that this thread is not needed.

And this next quote is you clearly showing your opinion on whether it was worth making a topic about LOL.

"In this case, I don't think "this game looks complicated" warrants a topic, particularly with a popular game that has been discussed in several topics, and will likely have more topics devoted to it within the next two weeks as it releases.  This is combined with the fact that TC has been making a number of topics that are not particularly substantial."

My god, everything you said was a complete lie in this post.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

Have you seen the Survival Guide videos Nintendo made about this game ? If you did and you're still confused you might need to play some other JRPG before putting your hands on X...

JRPG's are too confusing which I why I haven't enjoyed most of them.

Dude, you aren't getting what he's saying.  You misread.  He didn't say that "I like Skittles" wasn't subjective.  He said that *the amount of information* represented in it isn't subjective.  I like Skittles only involves the flavors, textures, and colors of the candy and your preference for them.  That is an objective, quantifiable amount of data that can be discussed.  The opinion about that book deals with a whole host of ideas, another quantifiable number of discussion points.

Also, he said that he disagreed with the need for this thread, not the contents.  And the point about more threads and popularity has to do with saturation of the forums.  There's already going to be numerous topics flooding the forums next week, do we really need even more, less substantial topics clogging the forums further.

You calling him a complete liar is only making yourself look foolish.  Take the time to read and process before throwing around aggressive ad hominem attacks and trying to pick a fight.

dont worry, like the 1st xenoblade, they will guide u step by step, and u can read the tutorial anytime u like if u forget anything.
u can save at any point of the game, so dont worry if u are a busy person.

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

I'm living in Japan, and have played the game.
This game have terrible UI, and confusing system. There is no explanation of most system. You have no hint where can get item to clear quest.

However, although these all bad points, this game will give you brilliant experience. Trust me.
