Well, from what we've seen it seems about as big as about 3 of Xenoblade X's continents. That's good enough for me.

That fine line between big enough to make it feel like a whole huge world to want to explore... but not so big that they need to bring in a fast travel feature to make it bearable thus removing the game world for most of the playtime.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Big enough, but not too big to make the overworld soo vast that it's completely empty

I share the sentiments of others in this thread.
I would like a pretty big world, but not TOO big to the point where there's not enough content to keep it compelling, which leads to it become very boring, very fast.
Kind of had that problem with Wind Waker, which is why I don't go back to it as often as I do with the other 3D Zelda games.

From what we saw, big enough.

"You can fit Xenoblade Chronicles X TWICE in Zelda U, that's how big it is!" :P

To be honest, Zelda games always look big to me, the sense of exploration and adventure in these games is perfect, so it doesn't need to be as big as xenoblade X to be perfect, but I think this time it's going to be really big. I don't know how big, less than Xenoblade X of course, but that's ok, as long as there are dozens of different locations, at least 8 dungeons and some mini dungeons and a lot of side quests spread throughout the map I'll be happy.

Thank god there is Xeno X in 4-5 days, otherwise I would be even more desperate to play this game! It can't come soon enough!

This.

Most Zeldas have been open World one way or another already, and I loved the diversity they've had. I also really don't mind having a linear story to follow along. As long as there are plenty of interesting side chracters to meet.

(I'm wierd with open world games, I love minecraft and Don't Starve wich are about as open and directionless as it gets, so I get to make up my own goals, but disslike the Assassins creed/GTA style open world witch isn't tightly scripted enough to be interesting to me, but also not open enough for me to just do whatever I want. I always feel somehow obligated to follow the story, but have a sense of 'why am I doing this? This is boring...'.)
