Forums - Sony Discussion - MonHun Dev: Already made 3 titles for 3DS, want to work on high-end game next (PS4?)

From the interview with the Monster Hunter X dev

Some rough translation from one of the dev:

-Currently left MHX work, and working on the effects of another title that is in development
-Worked on 3 MonHun titles (main?) for Nintendo 3DS so far including MHX, and wish to take on the challenge of making high-end game next
-In a team that is working on PS4 title at the moment
-For the PS4 title that he is working on, he will make full use of the shaders and all the colorful effects

Capcom is also currently looking for the following:

-Animator
-Technical Animator
-Level Designer
-Lighting Artist
-Concept Artist
-Effect Designer (VFX Designer)
-Character Designer / 3DCG Character Designer (Modeler)
-Project Manager

I don't blame him, if I was talented, I would not want to limit myself to one platform. I would jump from making small PC projects, to applications, to handheld to high end consoles /PC hardware.

Maybe Capcom can finish Deep Down first....? like seriously.

Well, we may see a fully realised Monster Hunter on the PS4 and the NX in the future. There's no way Capcom will ignore the huge PS4 userbase, but also it would be unwise to abandon Nintendo platforms when all of the games released on them have been a success.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

So my thoughts. I don't think the game he is working on for ps4 is monster hunter. And if it is, it will be a dragon quest heroes type spin off.

Which leads me to my prediction. Sony are in a position of power. 30m sold already. Xbox stalling. Wii U failed sales wise and is getting replaced. The 3DS while not a monster was a monster in Japan and that's all that matters to capcom. Vita is not getting a successor so will do a few more million in Japan but nothing special.

So 3DS which is the ps4's main obstacle to this franchise is on its way out. Nintendo will have a tough transition considering the iron grip mobile has on the worldwide market.

At the very least I expect a dragon quest situation with monster hunter. Sony know they can't keep it off a Nintendo handheld and I doubt capcom want it.

So they'll look for spin offs and console versions.

-Monster hunter frontier online is in development for ps4

-Monster hunter online China devs hinted at porting this to ps4 when they're done with the pc version. (note this is different to frontier).

-I predict they'll do a monster hunter heroes type masou game.

-Monster hunter builders (minecraft clone if dragon quest builders is a hit)

-Monster hunter 5 gets the dq11 treatment. Ps4 gets the enhanced version while the handheld gets its version.

One thing I can guarantee you. monster hunter is returning to Playstation (not exclusively) and you'll hear more about it in the next 12 months

Exactly.  The best thing for Monster Hunter is to be multiplatform on a Nintendo handheld / pc / ps4. That's the sweet spot.

@Acevil I agree and being confined to the 3DS for so long is not exciting for a dev.  It's around wii level graphics.

At this point he'll be desperate for something more powerful to work on.  He's probably really looking forward to the NX handheld power boost aswell as ps4 or pc projects.

They'll probably do some spin offs for the PS4... even the PS3 got some. The best case scenario I can see for Sony is the next main title releasing for both NX/PS4.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

NX NX NX.

A new Monster Hunter on a Playstation platform would be amazing!

Think it will be PS4/NX like DQ.
