Did you see the multiplayer trailer for UC4? If that's realistic, I think I need to go see a psychatrist. Also no, there have been two multiplayer focused Ratchet & Clanks, one was co-op, one was PvP. One sucked, both flopped, and they almost ruined thefanbase, as illustrated by the piss poir sales of Into the Nexus. If Sony were going to try to make a push into e-sports with their first party games, at least do it with a franchise that fits.

The thing is, for video game publishers, the only real gain from e-sports is that it's marketing for your game. So if you need to create game specifically for e-sports, the whole point is kinda lost. And I'd prefer Sony's devs making the games they want, instead of aiming specifically to create something for e-sports. If what they create end up as an e-sport, great! But I don't care, and I doubt Sony cares if it doesn't.

Well, this is the whole new generation, It's where you can start flesh again, and that's exactly what Sony did with Ratchet & Clank reboot on PS4 and it got a lot more love now than ever thanks to the leading factor of the PS4 and game just looks beautiful!

C'mon, maybe it doesnt have to be in E-Sport but don't you want to see the Multiplayer mode of Ratchet & Clank PS4 ? I'm sure it will be great this time.

If not then perhaps inFAMOUS or revive the Jak and Sly Cooper series, etc.

I was talking about the networks in general, not simply this site alone. But the fact remains, Sony and Microsoft have their systems setup to where you really don't need to go crazy making threads like what you're referring to.   As Nintendo starts to get serious about online, threads like the ones you mention will start to fade away.

Mario Kart having community functions alone doesn't say much because it's a self-contained game. Which means, it only ties to people for THAT game alone. So it makes sense to make threads for get togethers on mario kart because Nintendo's ecosystem isn't fully tied together just yet. Right now, their against two competitors that have had full ecosystems where thread meet ups were made almost obsolete

Look at Dr Henry Killinger's post. He pretty much refers exactly to what I'm saying

Then why do games like CoD, Minecraft and LoL still have many forums and threads aimed at organizing games. Or loads of mmorpgs? You guys are simply making stuff up. We're talking about community forums here, they'll never disappear. I'm not talking about networks: I'm talking about games. The lack of a tight community comes (imo) from their focus on cinematic singleplayer games. That's not an insult to them as any company should make the games they want to make. But it's easier to form a community over multiplayer games.

Everything from big to small has a fan base, so they will always have forums and websites dedicated to them. Little Big Planet has plenty of those too btw. And no, we're talking about community forum threads, not community forums. Big difference there. The threads themselves WILL start to diminish and fade for Nintendo's games BECAUSE they are starting to get serious about online.

Back when most of the Nintendo threads started, people had no choice but to make them because Nintendo's network was so rough it was the only way people had any sense of unity/ connection with one another. "We're" not making up anything. It's just a reality.

When the NX comes out, if their online is robust, just how many of these nintendo game meet up threads do you honestly expect to exist?

Plenty.

Yet there are many community forums for MMORPGS. If there's a strong online community there would be threads about it on this forum or others. There are certainly a lot of CoD forums and threads based on organizing games yet I wouldn't identify that with Sony even if it's on their consoles. Please do tell me how the users of this site (or any other) would organize a tournament or online event aimed at this or that forum without posting about it here or there.

Your conflating 2 different phonomena. My explanation for Nintendo online organizing on this forum is one of historical circumstances.

You say there are a many community forums for mmorpgs and COD. That is certainly true, on the internet, on dedicated forums, not here.

You then say. "If there's a strong online community there would be threads about it on this forum or others"

The bolded part is already wrong, because strong online communities are dedicated, the purpose of the community is the game.

By saying "or others" your suggesting that the prevalence on this forum is indicative of the normal distribution, which I have already proven is incorrect. Then you assume its true for the rest of the internet, which it isn't.  In that case, if players of Sony games wanted to organize something they would simply do it on the forums dedicated to said game.

There is no problem here.

@Alkibiádēs

There's just no reasoning with you here I see on this subject.

Just look at what Killinger just said because he's right.

How many COD or MMORPG meet up threads do you see at this site? Same with PS or Xbox games. The reason for that is they are a non-factor. None of them need it because their entire communities have convenient ways to join together, which is what Nintendo lacked for a long time. Hence why such threads for Nintendo's games exist  here where they haven't for anyone else.

And if you honestly think that Nintendo meet up threads will be plentiful if the NX's network is high quality you're crazy lol.

E-sports? The thing where you give people money for playing your games instead the other way around?

I follow about 10 youtubers on and off and almost every one of them played Until Dawn. None of them played Halo 5.

So much for my anecdotal evidence

Yes, Until Dawn was a surprised HUGE hit on the web and im glad it did.
But, I'm talking about YouTubers like TheJwittz, GameXPlain or Outsidexbox, Halo Follower where the whole channel are pretty much about them, ya know ? like an actual Fan channels.

Now If you looks at the PlayStation side... we do have, but none of them are popular, such example would be like SanchoWest, RobinGaming.

So far the closest i would considered a popular & dedicated playstation gamer that i know of is this guy:

Demon's Soul is his favorite game of all times and it's the game dat make him fell in love with the Souls/Borne series. He makes GREAT stuffs, even if you don't play the game, his lore and everything are just pure awesomeness! Channel like this, turn you into a Fan of the series, even if you havent played the game.

Are you sure they are that popular ? I have never heard about them, except for outside xbox, and that only because they are featured on eurogamer to fill the weekend draught.

Yes, im pretty sure. Jwittz has over 1.3 Million sub with 200 millions total channel views and GameXplain has over 500K with 300 millions total channel views. And those are only the surface of the nintendo fan channel....

Xbox doesnt get as much praise but it's near there with all those Halo, xbox addictionz, etc. But if you include Minecraft in there, it would triumph all since minecraft is a Microsoft game now tbh.

Well, if you say so. I would have to take you word that that means anything, but i won't, because that would mean i would have to do some research and i don't feel like doing that.
