Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bought FF Type 0 finally

I haven't gotten far in the game but I was meaning to pick it up for a while.  I didn't because of all the great games that were coming out later this year and I was waiting for a price drop.

Can't say too much about the combat at the moment although it's definitely fun to play so far, regardless of some camera and control issues.

The opening was incredible and made me feel like I was playing a new true FF game, especially the part with the opening credits, black and white coloring and a guy singing in the background without music.  It was different but it definitely felt like a specific vision for a FF game like they always have.

I hope this continues with the game.

The voices are atrocious but I usually just pay attention the narrative in a FF games anyways.

I will buy it this week as well, for 19.99, I love waiting for these games for dirt cheap.

I liked it very much, it definetly has camera issues tough. Apart from that its a very enjoyable game.

Its a good game.

It is a good game, but it was at it's best when it had motion blur. :P

The story is really poignant so far. It has that edgy feel that FF6-10 have.

Lube Me Up

I never finished it. The levels have enemies that are well overdeveloped that your meant to beat on the second playthrough. One wrecked most of my team and I didnt have enough left to beat the end of level boss, and I couldn't be bothered to start the whole level again. Should get around to finishing it, I was enjoying it despite its flaws.

Playing Type Zero right now, lots of mixed feelings towards it. The storyline is such convoluted garbage I'm going out of my way to ignore it and focus on what I do like - the school, Class Zero, the music, and the combat.

I hate how you can only have one sidequest active at any one time, and the swingy asshole nature of the game has made me rage quit more than once. (By swingy, I mean I'm beasting through enemies until one goes Rage mode and starts moving like the Flash and one-shotting party members. By asshole nature...well, throwing ludicrously out of place uber monsters at you, auto KOing a character mid-mission because why not, putting chests in areas with continuously spawning enemies so you can't bloody open them, etc.)

The HD port presentation is so erratic - it looks really nice in places, and terribad in others. And I like me some bad voice acting - it can be endearing - but here it kills any sort of serious tone Square was attempting to create.

Despite my complaints, this is the best FF console title since the PS2, but man, that's really not setting the bar too high. I'm platting it and putting it away, no desire to replay for more scraps of "story" here and there.

It's a good game overall in my opinion, but it was clearly held back by the PSP. I would like to see a sequel on console. It does have faults though, but I will say I LOVE the mature based FF. There's a few scenes in Type-0 that made my jaw drop.

Let me know when youre bored. Took me about 30m-1h to realise it was just a monster hunter clone wannabe. Dunno how much the PS4 version changed it... but i just can't stomach mission grind structures.

Let me know if its still grindy. Who knows... might give it a second chance sometime.
