Forums - Gaming Discussion - Biggest disappointment of the past year.

Nintendo's E3.

They had an awesome showing last year, but this one was a contender for their worst ever. Almost nothing but borderline shovelware, and a handful of games we'd already seen extensively. Not one exciting announcement in the entire show, and Federation Farce and Amiibo Crossing were massive middle fingers to their fanbase.

"Disappointing" doesn't even begin to describe it.

MGSV almost made me cry. That game is not Metal Gear. Biggest disappointment probably ever, for me.

This so much. Sad to see Kojima's last Metal Gear game is like this. No cool boss battles, sparse and terrible storyline, no cool cutscenes and too many repetive missions. I think people gave MGS5  a free pass because its the last Metal Gear game by Kojima.

I'd argue none of the MGS have good boss battles from a gameplay perspective. But they were certainly more interesting.

I think MGSV is over rated, but it was also an incredibly unique game I couldnt stop playing.

Halo 5. It was a really good game, it just didnt live up to my expectations.

MGS5 was really good but tedious.

Batman AK was fucking boring. Batman Origins gets crapped on but that was better.

Have you rated a game 5/5 this generation yet?

No. But there were a lot of really enjoyable games this year.

The last time I felt I played a 5/5 game was GTAV.

Yes, I still enjoyed the game, but still a disapointment to be honest.

Fallout 4.
- outdated graphics and animation
- poor dialogues
- poor fps combat mechanics
- weak main story
- repetetive "kill-them-all" or "bring-me-this-thing-from-very-end-of-the-level-while-killing-them-all-anyway" side quests
- stats now almost have no value in new lvlup system
- characters are not deep enough, I dont care
- AI is so weak
- managing armor pieces is a pain, especially at the start
- weapon modding system is inconvenient as hell especially at the start of the game while you are not familiar enough yet with all that parts and names and you need to check a lot of weapons and parts for them just to be sure that you sold worse weapon then you have.
- building settlements and managing resources becomes boring at some point. Im confused how sometimes invisible raiders do break my tons of unreachable turrets while I am away in wastelands.

But damn! I still like this game. The atmosphere makes this game must play for me anyway. Music is great also.
F4 was my most anticipated game since New Vegas. I was sure it becomes goty for me. But no. Fallout needs a new engine, more elaborate and unique side quests when you must choose between bad and very bad for example, not just kill them all every damn time.

Batmobile: Arkham Knight

- ZERO memorable boss battles
- the batmobile got shoved down my throat every 3 minutes
- side quests are mostly boring-as-hell (disable this mine, now drive 200m down the road and disable another)
- having to get 100% completion to see the true ending

It really annoys me how critics praised this game yet shunned the far superior Arkham Origins.

Right, totally agree.

I just mentioned Origins was the better game before reading your post. I didnt love Origins but it also didnt force me to thing I genuinely hated. Boss battles were fantastic in that game.

Origins is worth buying just for the fights against Deathstroke and Firefly.

I would probably have to go with MGSV It was still a very solid game (pun intended) however the story telling is very lackluster in chapter two and very patchy. The ending is too sudden but very well done and the gameplay is so damn good but the lack of a full story (and pacing of it) left me disappointed

I'll say The Order was. I saw a different trailer when it debuted in E3 from what it is now.

Halo 5, the 50% drop in sales is just bad. Plus the campaign. I am mostly a single player but with the really bad reviews over the campaign withheld me from buying an XB1.

The campaign is very fun, just has a lack luster story.

Fun is subjective.
