because PS4's and Xbox One's peak year will be over then. Many people will own a PS4 or Xbox One at the end of 2017 and they are ready to buy a secondary console, a Nintendo console. But nobody on earth will buy a Nintendo console as his primary console after the fail called Wii U.

But maybe 2017 is PS4's peak year... or 2018. Shall Nintendo delay the NX launch until 2019 then? And all the 2015 and 2016 games for PS4 and Xbox One don't suddenly disappear in 2017, NX has to go against bigger and bigger game libraries the longer Nintendo waits.

Nintendo can't compete in this Generation anymore. The train has already left the station and they didn't jump aboard it.

There aim has to be to get people buying the console as a secodary console. And then prepare with it for the next generation.

As late as possible - far away from PS4's peak year.

If there are more people with the choice between PS4 and NX, then it will be bad for Nintendo.

Awwwww... people still think Nintendo isn't replacing Wii U till 2017. That's adorable <3

I think it's pretty much only one person now.

There was even one moron who suggested on the 13th of December 2013 that; "I think there's a fairly big chance we could see a new Nintendo around 2016."

Some people just don't get it.

I've never said the opposite.

2016 - Wii U exclusive

2017 - NX port as a launch title

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Right now I don't ses any reason why the NX would not come out by the end of 2016.
Production is already lined up, ghey already started to give informations to developpers (hello DQ XII). Also, we can all agree that besides Zelda WiiU and starfox, two games that are late, Internal development of wiiu/3ds software has stopped at Nintendo. All the 3DS games for 2016 are games that are already finished and released in japan. Do you really think that Nintendo is not going to release anything besides Zelda on WiiU for the second half of 2016? They have nothing else on sight for WiiU/3ds. And yes, normally, a year before they always have a few games announced.
What do you think they are doing exactly? Do you think they are going to have two dead systems next Christmas?

Please explain to me why it is impossible for the NX to be out in 2016? Indulge me.

Nx will be out by the end of 2016, and Zelda NX too. You don't have to trust me. Just wait and see

I'm pretty sure it's coming to both platforms, but I expect more a The Last of Us situation instead of a Twilight Princess situation.

I think that may be the case.

You said it yourself: All announced 3DS Games are already out in Japan. Nintendo doesn't develop new 3DS games anymore. It will obviously get a replacement first.

For Wii U we have:

-Zelda

-Star Fox

-Pokken

-Twilight Princess HD

All big titles that don't indicate the last year of a console. Look at Wii's 2012 LineUp or Gamecube's 2006. Wii U's is different -> not Wii U's last year. And there are many other reasons I explained before. Just go through the other posts.

Wii U will get new game announcements until and at E3 2016 for the rest of 2016 and early 2017. 3DS won't get any new announcements. Rather they will announce at E3 2016 the successor's launch titles.

And neither NX nor Zelda NX (which doesn't exist anyway) will be out in 2016. You'll find it out by yourself next year.

Then at E3 2017 they will show their new home console in detail (I expect them to talk about its concept in 2016) and announce a port/remaster of the game for this new console. They can get people buying their next console if they don't own a Wii U + they can get people who own a Wii U want to get this port. In the end they will sell more units of the game than with a Wii U/next home console simultaneous release in 2016. Let's say 6 million on the new console. Just think about it: Twilight Princess on Gamecube hasn't even sold 2 million units. Now assume it would have been a Gamecube exclusive for ~one year. It would have sold at least 4 million units on Gamecube alone. Then Nintendo would have released the Wii and the Twilight Princess port as a launch title. I expect that it would have sold 7 million units on Wii. What I wanted to say is that Twilight Princess could have been even more successful if Nintendo would have released it in the right way.

No way would the wii version have sold just over 7 million if the game was released on gamecube in 2005.

PosGamePlatformYearGenrePublisherNorth AmericaEuropeJapanRest of WorldGlobal

19 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess GC 2006 Action Nintendo 1.15 0.36 0.04 0.04 1.59

The split is 7.17m to 1.59m in favour of wii. The wii version sold 3m in it's first year so take those sales away and at them to the gamecube version. so we would have the gc version at 4.59m and the wii version at 4.17m, This is what i would expect if the gamecube had a year long headstart.
