Shouldn't this have been available worldwide the day Wii U came out?

Currently most hyped for: FFXV and Zelda U

That would have made sense and I can only speculate to why that didn't happen. They must have had a reason.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

If they sell this in the US, they should price at $99.99 instead of $104.45. Even the its only several dollars apart, people would be much more willing to buy something if it's under $100.

The gamepad is expensive anyway, just shows the price burden it's been for the WiiU. I hope Nintendo at least improves the battery life of the batteries, producing better ones has to be easier now.

Sadly adding more mAh's of power to the battery pack would only add to the weight of it, by quite a large amount too.

Also there is newer battery tech which could lower the weight and increase the life... but would also massively add to the price.

Can't have it all.

The weight difference between the Wii U tablet controller with the standard battery and Nintendo's "high-capacity battery" (which at least doubles the battery life) is only 6% (525 g instead of 495 g)... I really doubt anyone of you can tell which is heavier in a blind test.

Maybe Wii U gamepad will be required for NX BC for Wii U games that require gamepad.

Brace yourself for NX final bill if you already have to purchase a separate 100€ controller. And associating a failed innovation and the failed previous system with your new "savior" console? Big idea... not sure this will work out.

This pretty much proves that the reason the console is still so expensive is the controller...

If you change the game pad for the pro controller the console will be like $200-$150 right now, or at least official Nintendo price.

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Nintendo should have always made Gamepad an optional thing in all games, and they should have put a Gamepadless Wii U sku on the market after the first year. Wii U without gamepad for $199 may have done good things for WIi U. Could be as low as $149 by now. At that price I'd seriously think about buying a Wii U just to play XCX and Bayonetta. Though I would probably not violate my 1 console per generation policy, it would still be very tempting.

Don't think this has anything to do with NX, the gamepad has been sold by ebay vendors for a long time. its about time for Nintendo to officially jump in, and serve especially those with expired warrantees.

Well not exactly, Wii U gamepad price is $100, Wii U pro controller price is $50, so basically only around $50 difference.

If you look prices of controllers, PS4 and Xbox One controllers are (I think) $60, Wii U gamepad island Wii U Pro is $50.
