This is offcourse NOT becourse of NX.. It would make no sense not just to wait until NX comes..
(it would hurt wiiu sales, and start the NX comes soon talk again)

There are to posibilitys.. (imo)

1. Nintendo will make a game/dlc that can use second gamepad

2. This is just to replace broken ones.. to the ones not having garantee anymore

3. Nintendo doesn't want third party gamepads to start appearing and stealing a very obvious hole in the market.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

You could say that with alot of producs then.. :) but point is..  the reason would still be for "fixing" 1 or 2..

If they sell this in the US, they should price at $99.99 instead of $104.45. Even the its only several dollars apart, people would be much more willing to buy something if it's under $100.

The gamepad is expensive anyway, just shows the price burden it's been for the WiiU. I hope Nintendo at least improves the battery life of the batteries, producing better ones has to be easier now.

Sadly adding more mAh's of power to the battery pack would only add to the weight of it, by quite a large amount too.

Also there is newer battery tech which could lower the weight and increase the life... but would also massively add to the price.

Can't have it all.

True :(

I hope that at least it comes with a digital WiiU game, even if it is Nintendoland. A controller for 100$ is a lot, they might need to persuade costumers somehow.

Oh yeah like they did with the Wii Motes and Wii-Play just some nice little party games but took some of the sting off paying 50 for the controller.

Yes, those two first points are more important, although I can't see a game that uses two or more gamepads at this point. I think it will be used for the NX, and they are selling the gamepads now for those that don't have a WiiU. We'll se a bigger push of them after the NX release.

I seriously don't think this has anything to do with NX. As someone pointed out here, this is most likely related to people needing to replace broken WiiU Game Pads.
However, it could also suggest that Nintendo are planning software and DLC capable of using two Game Pads. I can think of two announced (but not yet released) games that could benefit from that option.

1. Star Fox Zero
2. Project Giant Robot (which I still believe was a prototype engine for an unannounced "Punch U Out!")

I can also see a second Game Pad DLC for some already released games, such as Splatoon.

But most likely this has nothing to do with new software releases or various DLC releases.

I think its posible that starfox has "2 people on different gamepad option" also that Nintendo could give games like Mariokart and splatoon who has "TV vs Gamepad"  the option of Gamepad vs gamepad mode.. (still.. most lickly just for replacement of broken ones)

This could be compatible with NX.. we dont know yet.. but dont think anabody will buy some to a future console.. they dont know anything about, or if it can even use it.

And why should any not having a WiiU.. buy a gamepad that only work with a WiiU..?.. (is it a joke..? :)

Well, now it doesn't make sense, but if the NX is actually compatible with the Gamepad, it would make sense, specially if it is recquired for BC. But I agree that is too early to tell.

Been on play-asia for months, why now?

pls make it to Australia... i NEED it

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

I could do with buying a new gamepad. I damaged mine last week.. I knocked it off my bed denting the screen and now wont turn on the main console via the gamepad for some strange reason... though all other wireless functionality seems fine.
