Forums - Nintendo Discussion - M. Pachter: 'Nintendo's new console needs GTA, Call of Duty and FIFA to avoid Wii U disaster'

NX needs third party support, plain and simple

I play on the gamepad and swing my arms around for motion controls in Splatoon and my arms don't get tired :p

But yes, 3rd party support is important so he's right for stating something that is straightforward

They don't need those games, just need to not release with such a shitty controller.

Have you even used one before?

Currently most hyped for: FFXV and Zelda U

Yes, this is important but it's not everything and it's not that simple as he makes it sound. There are tons of other factors that can determinate the success of a console like the right marketing, exclusive killer aps, cost-benefit perception (price/power/features/games), etc. But yes, it would be a good start if NX gets at least a decent third party support.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I agree with CoD and Fifa. GTA has never been on a Nintendo system, and when it has been (ChinaTown for the DS) if flopped, I think the first time a GTA game actually flops.

GTA 1 and 2 came out on Gameboy and GTA Advance released on GBA and they did flop.  Chinatown Wars on DS actually sold decently with 1.33 million on DS and a little more than 1 million on PSP.  Also, GTA 2 on Dreamcast flopped.

Funny that Pachter calls for several games of which the Wii U did have.  Doesn't he realize that's irrelevant to the success of a Nintendo console?

I didn't remember the GBA games at all, didn't even know they existed. Chinatown sold a bit more than a million, but in a console that sold more than 150m units, I'm sure they expected way more.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I hate Pachter threads, because all they boil down to are a bunch of brain-dead comments saying "Durr... Pachter said it so the opposite must be true! Trololol. Wrong about everything trololol."

Instead of substantive posts agreeing or disagreeing with what's being said in a manner that actually cultivates interesting discussion.

Well, I did my best at least.

As for that first paragraph, I totally agree. People are to hung up on Pachter's predictions, wether they are sales, or whatever. But that isn't his real forte. He's a business analyst, not a clarvoyant. And as a business analyst, he says some pretty reasonable things, but any discussion about those reasonable things get completely buried in the Pachter-bashing.

I'm not really talking about any individuals or even this thread specifically, but the overall animosity anytime he's brought up in anything that completely clouds good conversation. What you said is basically my point. If you disagree with him, stop talking about who he is and start talking about why you don't like what he's saying.

Yes. I tried it out at Gamestop. Couldn't stand the controller. It's too damn big. The Wii U is the first Nintendo console ever that i didn't purchase.

He's wrong. There's no reason any of those games would add much selling value to the NX, not unless they make those games NX exclusive. Only Xbox needs those games to sell.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
