This whole website is tsundere for Patcher. We always critic Patcher and yet every time he speaks, we make a thread about it and it gets a ton of messages. XD

No, these third party games never helped a Nintendo console (even not Wii or DS).
And it won't change with NX.

Some will get it. Gamers who buy every console and Nintendo die-hards. If Nintendo thinks the base that bought Wii and WiiU will show up for NX then that's a mistake. I know parents who thought WiiU was too soon after Wii and neglected to buy WiiU. What will they say for NX? Especially if Nintendo doesn't go the kiddy route.

We don't know the "concept" behind NX, we don't know if it's a traditional home console or something different. Because of that, making statements like that now is pointless and useless.

Off-Topic: Have you noticed that this year has been mostly Mr. "Always Wrong" free until a month ago where he talked about NX, and since then we have had several threads about him talking about Nintendo and NX?

I'm sure he has realized that he only gets visibility when he talks about Nintendo, and he won't stop doing that for months .

He's right, the majority of households only have one console, 3rd party is the most important aspect.

Nintendo will need to maintain substantial (meaning more than just Fifa, Cod, Madden and GTA) 3rd party support, and over a longer period if they want 3rd parties to get some firm roots on their console. They'll probably have to give some financial support for publishers for quite a while, til the userbase on Nintendo systems for those 3rd party games have grown enough to make it financially sensible (and I'm not just talking about breakeven here) to make their games for Nintendo systems.

It would require a big investment from Nintendo, but they could afford it. I'm not sure it would be worth it though, and I'm 100% sure they won't do it.

They'll probably get better Japanese 3rd party support next gen, but those don't push consoles along the likes of Activision's, EA's, Ubisoft's, 2K's and Bethesda's games.

I get what you mean but instead of "revolutionary" I prefer to say the Wii had "mass appeal for a broader audience".

If Nintendo could replicate that success then third party games aren't vital. But it isn't like Nintendo can just wish for this to happen and see it done.

It'll take more than just that to be a success.

Well, how specific. Now 3rd party alone isn't enough, and must have those particular 3? Umm, already Patch ; ) And when did focusing a lot on 1st party become a bad thing? That's great! Nothing like your console having a great first party line up. You get the best of both worlds if you can get great 1st party and 3rd party games.

I think at this point Patch just hates Nintendo and wants them to die x ) He just keeps raising the requirements needed for it to 'succeed'

Also, GameCube got all of those games except for FIFA and still sold worse than everything else that gen. Wii missed a ton of those things and outsold PS3 and 360. The answer is nowhere near as simple as he likes to try and make things.
