Forums - Nintendo Discussion - M. Pachter: 'Nintendo's new console needs GTA, Call of Duty and FIFA to avoid Wii U disaster'

He is stating the obvious. These games sells consoles. GTA, COD and Madden have universal appeal.

Wii U had both COD and FIFA... So... Sure Patcher. Keep talking.

Only FIFA 13 as a launch title back in '12... Then it stopped.

Yep.

Well knock me down with a feather.

Even if the NX has those, why would people get it over a PS4?

Well, those games alone wouldn't make people choose it over the PS4, but it would be a start. A lot of people are annoyed/angry at Nintendo that they need to buy another console to play most of the games they want to play, so by having the very basic ammount of multiplats (CoD, Fifa, Madden, AC, GTA, Minecraft...) at least would help those people and make the console more appealing. 1st party alone can't crack it if you have to give up on 20-30 titles you may like.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

At least for once he is right. Give the man a medal or something.
Although they need more than those games to sell Xbox one numbers.

I kinda used to think the same but I thank Pachter for proving me wrong(he's never right, it's a given).

Guess they just need Steam to crush PS4BONE like it rightfully should and Nintendo will be at top again.

Well, I can't disagree with him. 3rd party support have been a major factor for consoles since at the least the 5th gen, and that's the way it is. 3rd party isn't the end all be all, mind you, but it sure as hell doesn't hurt console sales. Wii got a free pass since it had a new way of playing games, but that didn't work for the Wii U. The NX on the other hand might not have to rely on 3rd party support, so that could be the first console to break the mold that's been in effect since PS1; the NX could potentially be the first console to thrive solely on 1st party content. But that really depends on its form factor and games.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Wii U had Madden, FIFA and Call of Duty and Wii U again failed. Third-party support was just one of the reasons why Wii U failed and not main reason.
