The Install base for Halo 3 was smaller than it was for Halo 5 I think.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

The MCC mess and it's not that good apparently. I'm holding off on getting it. :(

Combination of factors:

1- Halo 4 being a disappointment to most fans
2- Halo: MCC having big online issues at launch
3- Releasing at the same timeframe of both Fallout 4 and CoD: BOIII and other major games
4- 343 Industries not having the fame of Bungie
5- Destiny taking away some of the audience
6- The series not being innovative anymore

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Halo 2 did ~3.3m first month NPD.

BTW Halo 1 just did low numbers because it was launched with Xbox (bundled) and it sold to almost all Xbox sold in the first week... the Xbox launch was not that great.

I said it after E3 and had a few people tell me I was wrong but the anticipation for Halo 5 was noticeably less than for Halo 4. Previous Halo entries screamed "epic", while Halo 5 felt more like "further adventures in the Halo universe starring Master Chief and Friends!" The vibe was much different and I don't think it made many non-hardcore Halo fans consider it a must-play game.

This, I think, is what happens when a publisher basically tells you that this series is going to go on forever. You lose that sense of meaningfulness.

I wonder how MCC could have been so bad that turn way the 2/3 of the previous buyers from going to Halo 5.

If you guys are considering that MCC sold less than Halo 5.

Going back to Halo 4 and Reach the only people that complained were the purist that couldn´t stand the franchise evolving. Those are the guys that thinks sprint killed Halo Reach. So, don´t expect them going to Destiny or any other FPS.

I do think these guys are either maried with children or still playing Halo 3 on the 360.

Reading early this thread I went back to MCC and for my surprise is easy to find games in Halo 4, BTB and Halo 3. Halo 4 is the fastest.

Competition is fearcy now for scifi FPS. Even COD is venture into hard science fiction. Even Halo comunity is divided into 5 games with active users (MCC with 12 modes).

There are many different reasons like; more competition, lack of split-screen, MCC mishaps, Halo 4 mishaps, lower metacritic than previous Halo's, and general fatigue of the franchise.

Personally, the multiplayer is some of the best if not the best in the franchise. Considering how good the multiplayer is, free dlc, and plenty of post launch support, I think the game with have very good legs.

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

For me it is the Halo MCC debale, FU if you think I am going to download a 20gb file on launch day to get the complete game because they wanted to squeeze it all on one disc.

It is very simple

It was a COLLECTION

Disc 1 = Halo 1 and 2
Disc 2 = Halo 3 and 4

No one will whinge having two discs for FOUR!! games.

After that point I stopped caring about Halo 5 and from the sound of it from comments here looks like 343 turned it to shit anyway.

Until some point this year, I thought it was some sort of spinoff. None of the other main Halo titles had a subtitle.
