Forums - Sales Discussion - GameStop: Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 sales strong while Halo 5, Star Wars Battlefront, Assassin's Creed Syndicate underperform

I know I bought Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 both digitally. Not sure if digital is just growing a lot more or if people are just buying less games?

Gamestop are so dependent on physical sales that their attempts to downplay digital sales are starting to sound desperate :).

They are not the ones who sound desperate in this whole thing. Still believing that 40%?

Never said that, I said that MS press release pointed to that reality, and you can hardly say it didn't? Yet Gamestop are the ones forbidding publishers to have digital copies of games in bundles and trying to downplay digital distribution at every chance the have. Instead of looking towards a business model where they can adjust to digital sales, they are taking the boneheaded approach that is quite similar to Blockbuster and digital distribution of movies and series.

Star Wars failure is due to the FPS nature of the game. Had they gone with base 3rd person and more Light Saber action the game would've sold a lot more. It's an FPS in a sea of 3 more popular and well-established first person games. Any person wondering why Battlefront and Tomb Raider are failing must be new to this.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!

No it didn't. We've been over that

So digital sales for halo 5 isn't that out of the ordinary than some were hoping. Everybody knew this except some that were hanging on the digital sales to claim sales were much better than the physical sold through let us to believe.

A shit beta and lack of content really hurt Battlefront. LOL @ failing to meet already lowered expectations.

I don't see what's controversial, none of these games met their respective hype level... I mean, Halo 5 should have been recieved much better by the press (if it was good enough).

The general consensus on it seems to be that the campaign is lacking (too short, stupid AI, etc.) and the MP is pretty neat, however it's missing local coop.

Star-Wars BF has no single player campaign (yay, one less game to buy for me) and it offers very little multi-player maps... everybody wanted to love this game!

Anyway, there are good reasons for what's going on... and no there is no magic digital only sales surge for your favorite game!.. that's the same level of childishness as the cloud and hidden GPU arguments :-/

starwars will sell hard in december.... after the movie comes out.... that ps4 bundle is ganna sell like crack.....

mM

these statements really tell us nothing,.. they performed or didn't perform compared to expectations and we have no idea what gamestop's expectations where.

So much for those 50% of digital sales

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:
