I think it's a little too soon to expose them to these sort of some what mature things, like women and men showing a great amount of skin as well as well... developed figures.

You could argue that it's natural though. Bodys are bodys. Everyone has one, theres no shame in it. Body positivity it a good thing for a kid to learn. Any sexual connotation would fly right over a childs head anyways. When i was small my parents used to be naked around me a lot (nothing wierd or sexual about it of course, just having a bath toghether, changing, whatever..) and it's just normal. I also used to run around naked at the beach all the time, as did all the other kids. Sexuality never even entered our heads. We were all about smimming and sandcastles. (I'm from euope though, maybe we are more lenient with this kind of thing, but it really just strikes me as natural, nothing sexual about it at all.)

While I don't really mind the bikini change for the girls either way, the one for the burly, shiny men into....a cook....is just silly.

I don't mean to say the body is unnatural, I agree that it is. And I think it is good for kids to learn about the body and differences between males and females, but I also think there is a time and place for that. I mean, there is sex ed, right? : P And I would agree that sexual connotation could and would likely fly over kids' heads. Heck, it did for me. Though, since it is aimed for kids, and perhaps it doesn't fly by all the kids, is likely why it is censored. And this time, I side with that, but that's just me.

And if I saw you naked when I was younger, I would have likely covered my eyes and be very embarrassed, haha...

Hehe, i don't remember this, but my Mom tells me that when I was around three years old I used to ask very...interesting questions in very public places, like the tube. She swears that after the 'where do babys come from?' question, everyone around us was very busily preoccupied with things that would allow them to listen in on the answer! XD

Apparently she told me that she would explain at home, and told me about the reproductive system etc at home. Like I said, i dont remember any of this (even though I usually do have good memory and can remember stuff as far back as my first birthday, which many people apparently can't) but i do remember reading/looking at an educational book in kindergarden about the topic, that had lovely illustrations. It started of by introducing these two people (and showcasing their anatomy) that liked each other a lot, did the sex and from then it went into the technicalities of sperm, eggcells and embryonal stages of pregnancy. I remember being particularily impressed with the many many illustrations of the growing baby.

So while I, at age four, could have probably told you all about pregnancy and the technicalities how babys are made, any and all sexual innuendo or even the concept of 'sexyness' still went completely over my head! I knew two people in a romantic relatioship did it as an act of love and I was unimpressed. XD

Aww that's sort of adorable! I started to want to cover myself at a certain age, when I became more aware of myself and my body and society. But when I was smaller, no shits were given. :P

And I think what you're saying has merit as well, we don't need to present kids with sexualized imagery, while I personally don't think this would do anyone any harm, that doesn't mean I'm also right about it.

Haha, dang, you were taught that fast. I think the most I got was "the stork delivers the baby" as my dad thought as well for a long time. If you told me those things when I was little, I would have looked confused at you, haha. Thinking back, it probably was never on my mind before. My dad did teach me about women, their soft skin, and their breasts. He told me they are soft and chewy, like bubble gum, haha! For some reason, that stuck with me, but never made sense, until much later x )

I was taught not to look at others' privates, I suppose as a sort of respect for peoples' ...'goods'? That is likely why I take my stance x )

Cue people thinking that Nintendo is behind this then it's more than likely the dub company's idea.

Also I find it somehow funny that the just straight cut the banana hammock guys instead of coloring in something for them like the girls.

Yeah, I suppose. I don't think it did me any harm though, because I didn't get the juicy bits until much later. ;P I guess I was a very critical child, If you'd tell me about the stork I'd bother you about the technicalities until you were frothing at the mouth, so it was just easier to give me information overload I suppose. When I was around four I started questioning if Santa was real, and that christmas my parents got one of my distant uncles to play Santa for me. I think I was the happiest little shit in the world when it turned out that Santa was 'real' in the end. X) So yeah, I was ready to believe the stuff i really wanted to be true.

Hehe naughty dad telling you that! :P

As for 'not looking at other peoples privates' that's a perfectly respectable thing to learn. While I don't mind little kids and find it sort of funny how honest and puzzled they are by a lot of things, I get that it makes people uncomfortable. And it's a good thing to have learned anyways because later in life people tend to get reaaally uncomfotable if you just stare at their privates....

I don't think it's Nintendo's fault ...

Dentsu Entertainment is the one producing the english dub and it's airing on Disney XD ...

Out of the two it's most likely Disney censoring it ...

Considering this anime is meant for kids, they would need to change things like that...

Although, back in the 90s, this might have gone unchanged. There were many adult things present in cartoons that just flew over our heads. Those were crazy times.

Also, need to say this again.

This is. A show. For KIDS. What do you expect?!

We're not talking about sex here, but swimsuits. I hope US kids never go to the pool or the beach, it could be bad for them.

Never had any problem with swimsuits in animes like Pokemon here, I don't understand why this was censored.

Well, it could get boys aroused and girls thinking they need to be that way to arouse the boys, at such a young age too. Even the clip shows that. So it would indirectly imply leading to thoughts like that...

Well, there was that episode that was cut entirely, which besides giving James cleavage, also displayed a lot of girls in swim suits as well as a beauty contest revolving around girls and swimsuits. So there is that.

That episode was aired. And only James inflatable breast scenes were cut. No other swimsuit edits were done to pokemon. Infact. There was a season 1 episode of Lorelie, in pokemon, who had large breasts. And the camera was intentionally above her all the time. Not censored. Aired. And still left alone on DVD sets.

Censoring shows, like this now, is stupid. I've seen more dumb crap though. Beast Wars was censored in reruns. And it's an american show. Yokai Watch airs on Disney XD. I say they forced them. They censored re-airings of Power Rangers. Why they change the guys with cooks. Was the digital paint team too embarased to digitaly touch up muscle guys? THe subliminal message they get now is cute girls want food.

Yeah, I heard it was aired eventually, but was not initially shown in the show's first running, and if I am not mistaken, it also didn't see a VHS or DVD release. Even without the James section of it, it was a little out of place for a kids show.

Censoring things in a situation like this, I can see why it was done.

Beast Wars was censored in reruns? BRUTAL. I loved that show so much. The idea that it was compromised sucks big time. It sucks almost as much as Beast Machines. Almost. Nothing sucks more than Beast Machines. Not even Super AIDS.

So, people don't go to the beach in that country?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

More like, cue people thinking it's Nintendo when Nintendo doesn't own and is not involved with this IP except for promoting the game in the West.  Level 5 owns Yo-kai.
