Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I'm waiting for Zelda: Skyward Sword HD because we deserve PROPER CONTROLS.

MOTION CONTROLS RUINED THIS GAME FOR ME. I love the story, the look, music and EVERYTHING ELSE expect the childish controls. I really criticize Miyamoto for allowing motion controls. When I think of Skyward Sword I think of all the times Motion Controls screwed me up and made me rage.  When I got Skyward Sword I thought about playing Twilight Princess next but after my HORRIBLE experience with Motion Controls I didn't even want to look at Twilight Princess. I'M SO GLAD they are making a HD version of Twilight Princess WITHOUT Motion Controls. It's like they're saying "We ruined your experience on purpose and we had a good laugh, so here you go! a HD version with proper controls!" So now that Twilight Princess is finally getting the controls it deserved all along, I am now currently waiting for Skyward Sword HD with proper controls.

Errr...

Twilight Princess always had the control scheme it deserved.

It's called the GameCube version.

Considering you claim that Tropical Freeze made you rage so hard you smashed the disc, I'm gonna hazard a guess that the controls are not the problem here.

You know CAPSLOCK is YELLING and is actually QUITE RUDE so please STOP IT

:P. Seriously, use bold.

On topic, I enjoy the Skyward Sword controls myself. A HD with standard controls wouldn't bother me, but my problem is then you would have to change a lot more than that since the whole thing with SS combat is the blocking and choosing the correct angle of attack and such. All of which will be hard to adapt to standard controls.

The controls made SS magical to me. I loved it.

My experience of skywards swards controls were bad partly because the wii mote i used for the first three dungeons was flawed. I had a far far better experience after switching wii motes. Not all wii motes are equal and people should be aware of that before they crit people for not liking the motion controls because of lack of skill. The motion controls never felt natural for me though. To convoluted.

There were many many issues with skyward sward beyond the motion controls though. But just sticking to the subject of movement, every mob was a chore to get past. In all previous zelda's most mob was a breeze you just hacked through or run pass. You occasionally got a mob that could block or required effort but they never overstayed their welcome and were mainly in dungeons. In skyward sward every mob blocks your attacks and blocks your way so you can't avoid them. They force you to stand still and patiently wave your sward around to get past. It disrupts the whole flow of the game, especially when backtracking.

The game moves like a slow turn based rpg... move forward, fight mob, move forward, fight mob... but you don't get the reward of xp for all your work.

Twilight Princess GameCube version?

But yes, I wasn't a big fan of the motion controls, not because there is motion controls and you wave the remote awkwardly, but mainly because it wasn't that responsive..

I had to constantly open the menu to recenter my cursor, and most of my swings are sensed as horizontal or vertical swings, even though I swung diagonally or lunged (especially annoying when bosses punish you when you attack incorrectly)
