Pre. Nothing made now is memorable. Or really used in movies/shows.

There have been some really good movie scores in the last 16 years that being said music from the last century is still miles ahead of recent music.

Sorry, but no. Just no. Music is above such divisions.

The only difference is that we forgot lots of crap from last century, especially 60s and earlier, while we are very much aware of it today.

    CU......or CF ?

Not really fair to put only 15 years of music against the last century...so of course most (including me) would say it was better. I do think there have been some really great ones so far...Adele for one...country has seen a few good songs that compare to previous century as well as groups like Imagine Dragons and Fun to name some off the top of my head.

Make it So.

Popular music is objectively more shallow and commercial than it's ever been--there's no disputing that.

That said, while there was a time that I would have said I liked older music more, now most of my favorite music is newer stuff. When you look below the surface you'll find some really creative stuff, and while I still like a lot of older music, this newer stuff just fits me better. So while popular music has gotten worse, if I had to say which I liked more I would say 21st century. This age of internet has allowed anyone to make the music they want to make, and that has opened up some possibilities that just weren't present a few decades ago.

Certainly pre 21st century since my favorite composers are from that time. We used to have Lizst, Alkan and Beethoven, now we have Nicki Minaj, Lorde and Justin Bieber. :P

But I can recognize that we still have some good composers, singers and bands, like Temples or Tame Impala, for example.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

The way I see it, we've had decades/centuries to distill the good music from the bad, when it comes to old music. People have just forgotten all the crap songs that we're plentiful back then, just as they are now. With modern music, we haven't yet had time to distill the good from the crap, so it feels like music is worse now than before, simply because all the old music we still listen to is the good old music.

as for me, I just like good music. Don't care when it was made. There is both good modern music and good old music

EDIT: I'll agree that pop music has gotten worse though
