Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox 360 turned 10 today

I find it funny that Microsoft claimed that they found genuinely support the Xbox 360 for at least 10 years. When was the last 1st party Xbox 360 exclusive even released?

Screamride and Minecraft: Story Mode are MS games on 360. Cobalt is apparently coming to 360. Ori and the Blindforest might be come to 360, but probably won't at this rate. So the 1st party support isn't notable by any means, but there has been some.

MS has also continued to produce the hardware, maintain servers for games, etc. In a sense, keeping it alive is support.

Sony is the one that started all the 10 year plan discussion by the way. Yet their PS3 support hasn't exactly been major titles.

My fondest memories of it are 2005-2008. After that, it became a shooter/Kinect box I didn't have anymore use for sadly :( The jrpgs and niche games stopped coming out for it.

But wow blue dragon, earth defense force, eternal sonata, katamari, ace combat, infinite undiscovery, project Gotham racing, halo 3, forza 2. Those first 2-3 years were amazing.

Oh boy, go look at everything that came to 360 post 2008 and realize how ignorant you post was. There were numerous other JRPGs on 360 post 2008. As far as niche stuff goes, there is a fuck ton of it on 360.

I guess people will perceive the 360 how they want, reality is why 360 is a great platform though.

The console was released in North America 10 years ago, so it is celebrating it's birthday.

You can use this moment to reflect upon the things we owe to the Xbox360. What do you think we owe to Micro's second console?

Pay for online :(

Congrats. It was a good console :)

We owe them the very weak gen 8 consoles. They showed us and Sony that only cheap hardware sells. If they would've let Sony dominate with their $600 we'd have a PS4 with proper hardware in it.

If you wanted a PS4 with "proper" hardware this gen (whatever that means), then you'd be shelling out alot more than $399 for it, and because of that the PS4's dominant lead over the X1 would have went right out the door along with all the good will Sony worked to achieve towards the latter half of the 7th gen...

Why? If the PS3 dominated last gen with a high price, then it would've dominated this gen as well, not matter the price. Also "proper hardware" means dedicated GPU.

Not to go off topic, thank you 360 for confirming that cheap is sexy and subscriptions are awesome.

The PS3 was never going to dominate the its generation with a $600 price tag, and the PS4 would not have dominated this generation with a $600 price tag. If the price was that high, most people would have simply not bought one until the price went down. It wasn't JUST competition that hurt the PS3. If anything, most of PS3's early wounds were self-inflicted.

You also forget the Wii, which was cheaper than both the 360 AND the PS3, and dominated both while they were at their launch prices.

Congratz to the best console ms ever created

REQUIESCAT IN PACE

I Hate REMASTERS

I Hate PLAYSTATION PLUS

A console that, despite RROD, sold a shitload of consoles, even when PS3 released, standardized how gaming can be combined with the internet, had a ton of games and sold even more, had often the better multiplatform games, the best controller of last gen and in general, many games that appealed to me.
Sadly, MS had a huge success with Kinect that made them believe it would be a major selling factor for Xbox One. Which it wasn't.

It´s actually really interesting to see how successes in one generation transcends into failures in the next.

Still have my Falcon Elite, so no rings of death here which makes the 360 even better.

Funny thing is the only JRPG i really enjoyed last gen is Xbox exclusive, Lost Odyssey.

Oh yes, it is. I mean just look at WiiU. Sure, the Wii was an exception but also Nintendo misread the market completely by offering a tablet as an input device.
