Also, unlike the Xbox 360, doesn't have a CD tray. Instead, you put the CD in a slot, and it gets sucked right into the system. I don't know what its called, and I'm too lazy to look up the proper name of the mechanism on the Internet. So I'll just call it the "CD sucker thingy."

Just FYI: It's called a slot-loading mechanism.

So that's what it's called. Man, it was driving me nuts not knowing its proper name. "CD sucker," CD tray, with no tray," "hole thingy." Finally, I know its proper name. It was so awkward trying to think of an alternate name for the "slot-loading mechanism." What's the Xbox 360's thingy called? "tray-loading mechanism?" What is its proper name?

thank you for this post. some of your others annoyed me a bit, sorry =P. anywho, yes the PS3 is an amazing piece of machinery, but many people only can see the $600 price tag and not what it offers. I understand that for $600 I am getting an incredible deal, but to most people that isn't evident. It is also true that it is in fashion to hate Sony right now because they were being arrogant (tho i think it was just Kutaragi for the most part). However, I believe that soon enough, once the price drops and the big games hit, people will see what a great machine it is and it will start selling much better. Honestly, I will not be happy if MS takes over this generation. In my eyes they will ruin the industry, and force us all on PCs. So I'm hoping for Sony, along with Nintendo I guess, to pull through and get MS outta here. I think that will happen. Sorry that I'm not a fan of MS man. I've switched to a Mac and have seen the light. =D

Why are people assuming Motorstorm uses all of the PS3's power? Every console's games look a lot better the more time has passed since they first launched. Launch 360 games looked last gen, Gears came out a year later and blew away other 360 games. God of War 2 on PS2 and FF XII look better than anyone expected PS2 games to ever look... I'm just saying things are gonna look a lot better than Motorstorm an even Gears by the end of this generations on the 360 and PS3. I mean look at Ratchet and Uncharteed now they are lookin way better than Motorstorm and Lair which already are really good looking games.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

You wont have to worry about the Xbox 360 dominating the market. If the Xbox 360's sales continue to do as bad as they are in Japan, there is no way it will dominate the market, unless it does unbelievably well in other parts of the world, and Nintendo Wii flops somewhere along the line. The Playstation 3 might die, and Sony might be out of the console war, but Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii may battle it out until the end. Personally, I think Nintendo will be the last survivor. It has the most experience in the console business, and has two of the greatest franchises in the world (Mario and Zelda).

Anyways, the Playstation 3 is not expensive. Compare it to a flat screen TV, a lap top, a diamond ring, et cetera. It's not expensive at all. And, all you have to make is one payment. Then again, people these days are pretty cheap.

It's almost like a game. Many people are trying to get through life as cheaply as possible.

You can't look at marketing FUD (specs) and then draw definitive conclusions, especially if you don't know crap about technology and it's application, about which system is delivering the best performance in real world situations. You know that all parties will omit every detail that is going to make it look bad, so you only see the fancy numbers. I am developing engines for a living, and have done so for 10+ years on many consoles, and currently work on both PS3 and 360. Unlike the vast majority of poeple that comment on the technology in these consoles, I am actually able to run benchmarks on both consoles since I have a PS3 and a 360 dev kit in my office. If you don't like what I'm saying, well, tough.

You never mentioned which console's graphically superior. You just said a whole bunch of stuff.
