Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bold Prediction Wii U will have a true Animal Crossing game

I wouldn't mind if it had a Paper Mario game as well...

Sadly it's all but certain that it wont. Even if Intelligent Systems immediately began work on the next Paper Mario after they finished Steam and Fire Emblem, at this point any non TPHD or amiibo festival tier game should be developed for NX, a system that still has a chance so it only makes sense.

I guess you're right. I just hope I will get the chance to play another TTYD style Paper Mario game before I die! 11 years have passed since TTYD's release and I'm still waiting..

You and me both mate.

Not happening. If they had wanted to bring a Animal Crossing game to Wii U, they would have announced a real Animal Crossing last year at E3 and not this Amiibo thing.

As a holiday title with Zelda. Why not? It could really push Wii U sales to somewhere 15 million+ before the year's end. When you consider that there may not be many Wii U games in 2017 because NX will launch at the end of 2017, then these titles can hold the Wii U strong in 2017. Ans as it was said before: It would be really dumb from Nintendo to not have a proper Animal Crossing game on the Wii U.

And "Animal Crossing on NX in 2016" is an even bolder predicition. If not even an impossible predicition as it is almost sure that this won't happen.

I don't think there are any major unannounced releases left for Wii U.

Nintendo is done with the platform and is doing the bare minimum to keep it afloat until NX arrives.

I hardly think so.I see this happening as a cross gen title, but even so....

This has a better chance of happening if the NX ends up releasing in 2017, but im more and more convinced that it will come in 2016, in some form or another.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Well, no. And it's wrong to say that it got amiibo Festival instead of a real AC game, it got Splatoon instead of AC. Amiibo Festival is just a game to sell amiibo, it replaces nothing.

The only chance that it happens is that they're porting a handheld NX AC to Wii U as a farewell gift. I see no chance that they will release new original games for Wii U after NX launch, but ports don't seem impossible to me. But don't get me wrong, I don't think that it is happening.

I have another prediction: future mainline Animal Crossing games will all be on handhelds and home consoles will only receive ports.

Are people really expecting the NX to be released at the end of 2017? Come on, Nintendo is already being criticized because "the wii u is dead and has no games" and you really believe they will unveil the console at E3 2016 and then nothing until one year and a half later? Then why are they doing so many "crappy" games, spin-offs and low budget titles? If the NX was indeed coming in november 2017 we would already have an Animal Crossing game on wii u.

And I really want one! but I'm not expecting one until at least november 2016 with the NX :P
That, and a new paper mario as well. Believe! :P

It'll probably happen. I'm in the camp that says NX is coming in 2017 (there's no way, if it was coming in 2016, that companies like EA and Capcom would still be "considering" making games for it - they'd either be "waiting until launch to decide" or already working on games for it).

I anticipate NX to have a first unveiling at E3 2016 with a focus on tech demos and descriptions of how it works - this will not only build a bit of hype amongst fans, but also demonstrate the hype to the third parties, who will be given more reason to develop for the system.

Animal Crossing U will probably be the Holiday 2016 "family-friendly" title, to launch alongside Zelda U. Add in whatever became of the "Project Giant Robot" title, Pikmin 4, and a couple more unannounced titles, in addition to the titles already confirmed for 2016, and you have a solid year for Nintendo. Then 2017 will probably feature whatever's left before they release NX some time late in 2017.

So I don't think it's such a bold prediction - mine is a little bolder, but even mine isn't exceptionally bold.

Im in the same camp NX reveal 2016 launch 2017
