I just hope Titanfall 2 has a single player campaign and expands on the first one. If so I would definitely buy.

It really is a genre where the review scores suffer because of the quality of the competition. A 2D platformer where the main gameplay mechanic is jumping, which we've seen a billion times in the past, seems to have a higher default score simply because there are less of them being made right now. In addition, FPP games seem more inclined to get hit with the "does nothing to advance the genre" criticism, even when the same is true with pretty much every other game in every other genre.
Being a really good game is no longer enough for some jaded reviewers. Still, really, who cares. No one should put all that much stock in review scores and writers who are consciously looking for things to criticize.

Half Life 3's release would tear a hole in the fabric of all reality, Gaben protects us by not counting to 3.
Still though I would really love a HL3 rght about now.
I definitely do like shooters though, a little bit more than RPG's I'd say since I've played some shooters that give me a good story and decent enough action with games like Fallout, RAGE, Wolfenstein, Halo, new FPS games that give me tactical advantages like Titanall etc.
Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see
So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"
I wouldnt count Fallout 4 is an FPS, More like Open World RPG for me ;).
But yeah, most reviews dont like the face of FPS tbh, perhaps it's just too much ? FPS is also pretty mainstream in Asia and around the world with mainstream games like CS:GO and CrossFire.
Where is Arma IIl tho ? Oh and since you count Thief as an FPS, Minecraft should be in there imho.
what do you except that developers can keep going with same formula for a Decade? these reviews are well deserved. FPS arent what they used to be in Comparison to Hexen and Doom era.
Not at all. They're still very low. Reviewers are very generous with FPSes.
All of those games offered either nothing new or were left wanting in story or some other aspect. Titanfall would've had a 90 if it had a campaign and Halo would've scored higher if the campaign met the expectation of the commercialization.
We just need more diversification. I'm surprised theres still no magic based FPS on the market.
