Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will EA Reconsider EA Access?

You're to clever to do this to me gg. You know what I mean.

Nothing deliberate there, I just thought perhaps it had been mentioned as part of a possible future plan. There's no way for this to compete with PSNow without streaming tech. Everything on the service would have to be built to run on a variety of different devices. Perhap it would be better to compare it to Steam?

Maybe all of those or most.

Here's an interesting (and short) talk on the subject. It starts at 10:30

That makes sense. They definitely shouldn't put any of their new games on there then. Just their older shit.

Yes, it was a big talking point back in the day and clearly lead to less and less demos. Now increase those demos to 10 hours ...

Must of hired someone with fresh ideas about the video game market.

No, EA Origin is comparable to Steam.

EA Access is a subscription based service and although different to PS Now they are both subscription services that could be taken to multiple devices. Imagine in the future you pay, for example, $10 a month and you get access to games across consoles, PC and mobile.

EA Access is only on XB1 now but I'd imagine they will want to spread it to many devices. Again similar to what Sony want to do with PS Now.

Clearly it's doing them a lot of harm in sales and I can't see them continuing with the same policy. XB1 owners are playing games for those allotted 10 hours and then not actually buying the game. First it was Need For Speed and now it's Star Wars: Battlefront.  I've seen it written here, on N4Gs and dozens and dozens of times on GAF and I can't see how this strategy is sustainable. It's not just isolated cases with these 'played it enough' comments, it's widespread and often.

EA must reconsider their policy because the one thing EA love above all else is making money and this must be losing them millions of dolars in sales. They've either got to reduce the play time by a huge margin or up the price by a huge amount.

On what numbers are you supporting your claim? In another thread, we saw X1 MP numbers be close to two-thirds compared to PS4 numbers, yet I´m guessing sales of Battlefront on PS4 will be something like twice those of X1 (because of userbase, exclusivity delas and so on) so it would rather seem EA Access helps to gain interest for EA products.

What about TVs, Blu-ray players or any device not capable of running a decent game? They're very different things.

I'm talking about devices in general. PS Now will target different devices to EA Access but both could expand onto as many device that makes sense.

Anyway the original point is that EA will probably have a bigger picture planned for EA Access. I doubt they designed this service exclusively for XB1. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony do end up jumping on board.

FIGHT!!!

It's a risky thing though, especially if they lose too much money in a 'short term' that has no expiry date.

This is probably why PS4 didn't want EA access.

^.

Ea access offers so much value that the little sony will get from it is a minor percentage of what they can get from ea's after-launch sales.
