I figured people would already know by now, but pretty much any PS3 can play PS2 games, not just the old launch phats, the emulator sony includes with PS2 classics is capable of running just about any game.

So far we only have the Star Wars games to judge this by and it looks like they're upscaled and run at 60fps.

What was it?

It was specifically the ability to play physical media (there was no such thing as a digital library of ps1/ps2 games before classics on the PS3) that most people are referencing.

That said, Tachi - you are, or used to be, on the actual firmware team. Do you guys use AGILE or waterfall? I sometimes wonder why the FW team seams to hydrate their backlog the way they do..... it kinda feels like you guys fleshed out a roadmap and stick to 4-6 month major release schedules using waterfall...

Remember when SE trolled everyone with FF7? What if the footage wasn't from the PC version but was actually emulated?

I've been thinking the same thing honestly. I have a strong feeling that they were planning to announce emulation at last year's PSX, but the dev team told them it wasn't ready -- and thats what lead to the "troll".

Square has now taken well over a year to port FFVII to PS4. Last news we recieved was that the game was delayed until Q4 2015. They only have 4 1/2 weeks until 2016, and we STILL haven't heard anything.

I'm starting to think that they are going to officially launch the emulator during PSX and give FFVII as this year's "gift".
