They are both amazing ass games that warrant playing. And you shouldn't play both at the same time. They're both open world and both have a lot of RPG elements, but that's kind of where the similarities end. Witcher is a more traditional RPG and has a deeper inventory system and magic elements. It also has better writing. You get a grand story with many elements and paths to take to get there. In Fallout it's more about exploring and surviving. I prefer Fallout's combat but Witcher's combat is also great.

As others have said, I would buy Witcher 3 and spend 100+ hours on that, and then later pick up Fallout 4.

I don't agree with you often, but the only thing I would change from this post is the part about combat. I've always been a sucker for third person action like in Witcher and Fable, so it takes the win easily in that category. Otherwise, pretty spot-on.

I have to reiterate that the writing in The Witcher 3 is outstanding. Even though you don't play as an avatar of you, the character of Geralt is really awesome to play as. Such a bad ass, and he's supported by equally fleshed out supporting characters each with their intricate back stories and whatnot. And seriously... Whoever modeled Yennifer's face deserves an endless amount of love for the rest of eternity. <3

Truly a stellar game.

Witcher 3 is better made, better quests by far, more beautiful
But fallout is the definition of open world and I love the ambiance, If I were you I would get both, they play quite differently

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

F4 feels like a half-assed past-gen game compared to TW3.

Well, I´m the only one that has said that so this is pretty obviously a false accusation against me only because I found TW3 controls boring. I have The Witcher 3, I don´t like it, I have Fallout 4, I like it. Get over it. Controls are weak, combat is dull, and I´m not the only one who thinks that, it was one of the most criticized things about the game, if some cool sidequests made you forget about it, cool for you, It didn´t for me, but don´t accuse me of nothing just because I've enjoyed the other more, and not only because the controls, I found F4 being a much better open world over all.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Incredible.

Here you have it

Are you happy now or are you going to continue accusing me of not having the game just because I like Fallout 4 more?

That isn't the reason why I didn't believe you had played the game. But I shall stand corrected.

Gotta give a minimum of respect (which is more than you deserve from me) since there's an icon of Axiom Verge on that desktop of yours.

Then why? I had this game for months, why would I have it just for not playing it? I didn't think it was a bad game and it sure has some obvious virtues but I think is really overrated, I did not enjoy it, and I did not finish it because of that but I had like 25 hours or so played, more than enough to know if I like it but it didn't engaged me, I just keep playing because it was extremely beautiful and the writting was decent. However I spent those 25 hours in just 3 days playing Fallout, because I found it way more enjoyable.

I feel the combat in Fallout 4 way more interesting, TW3 is clunky and boring in that department. Also, as an open world game Fallout 4 does a much better work than The Witcher 3

I'm totally with you on this one. The controls in Witcher 3 just feel awkward. Geralt moves like a tank, he never does exactly what I want him to do. I heard there was a patch sometime for better controls, but I didn't check the game out since then. Fallout on the other hand plays flawless and very fluid. I also like the world much more. Not only is the scenario more interesting imo, the open world itself is also much more full of stuff. Witcher 3 might have a big world, but there is barely anything to see. I very rarely stopped to investigate something. Mainly I just stumbled upon some bandits or stuff. In Fallout 4, there is something interesting in every corner. There are so many times when I'm on my way to somewhere and I just find other stuff everywhere. I investigate some building, find myself some Holotapes or other clues and before I know it I have started a new quest! I absolutely love that. You're not tied to some characters giving you quests, you can just stumble right inside a quest. And that's only one aspect why I'm seriously in love with Fallout 4 right now. I bought both games at release for PS4 by the way and easily invested more time in Fallout 4 already.

Not saying that the Witcher is a bad game or anything, but it's just not for me. It didn't suck me in, I never played it to the end.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Shhhh don't say that or someone may accuse you of being a liar or a hater.

But seriously I feel exactly the same about both. Is really amazing the amount of things you can find in every corner of Fallout 4, for me is mindblowing, I tried to explore some of the most hidden and recondite places of the game, places that anybody would think they are empty, and no, I always end up finding something new. And frequently I discover places that tell a short story even without words, little things that are not relevant for the overall story but make the world feel so real, alive and interesting to explore, I love that game, and I wasn't expecting it tbh, because I was having the feel this was going to be just more of the same but worse, and I was wrong, I think is better than Fallout 3 at least from a gameplay and world design pov.

Witcher 3 for me. but both is very good.
