When Microsoft announced a while back that they were rolling out Backwards Compatibility for XBox 360 games to become playable on XBox One, I was pretty excited.  That excitement dimmed a bit when I heard that the 360 disk would have to install to the XBox One, further eating up the already non-existant space on my hard drive.  But, the fact that I will have to purchase an external drive is already a foregone conclusion, so whatever.  My excitement was further dimmed when seeing the list of the first 100(+) XBox 360 games that were made backwards compatible.  But still, there were enough to maintain my interest while further titles become available later.

My issue is that since November 12th, when the first 100+ titles were supposed to become available, I have only gotten 1 game out of 4 that I have tried to work.  I tried Dungeon Siege III, Fallout 3, Fable II, and Mass Effect.  Only Mass Effect triggered an install after putting the disk into my XBox One.  When putting in the disks for Dungeon Siege III, Fallout 3, and Fable II, I received the message "This disk is not playable.  For a list of playable games please go to xbox.com/backcompat"

Has anyone else had any issues?  I know there are people who don't care about backwards compatibility, so please don't respond with opinion in that regard, since that is not the question I'm asking.  I'm just asking for responses of successful or unsuccessful attempts.

The first thing is that you aren't installing the game from the disk you put into your xbox1, you put the disk in to confirm ownership of the game and then your system will download an xboxone compatible version of the title, maybe check to make sure you're connected to the internet when you try to play the games or do you happen to be using re releases of the games like greatest hits versions? I know DSIII has a bunch of different variations, as does Fable 2/3 GOTY versions etc, could be that the versions you have are not added to the list of BC games just yet, I'm sure if that is the case it'll come shortly.

Just to be sure, your disks are clean and non scratched right? like they work fine in a X360? the system needs to clearly be able to read the barcode like data on the innermost ring of the DVD

Yes, they are good condition disks.  I've always been good with maintaining clean/unscratched disks in their proper cases.  And, I'm always connected to my internet.  Like you mention, the only thing I can figure is my copy of Fallout 3 being the "Game of the Year Edition".  But, that doesn't explain Dungeon Siege III and Fable II.  Those are both the standard versions.

If you have Gold, DS III is free now

I put Fallout 3 in and it started installing, I'm playing Mass Effect first so I haven't even booted up Fallout 3 yet but I saw it installing.

Odd, Mass Effect was the only one of the 4 you listed available on the preview of backwards compatibility games, is your xbox fully up to date? guessing it is since you got that downloaded.

As in http://www.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games from that list your one game working would be correct.

hmm only tried Viva Pinata, which was in the preview program already (with Mass Effect) and it worked, though I think it didn't install automatically but I had to go to the games and apps menu instead and install it from there.
Can't quite remember though.

I havent had any issues. Most of the games I use are digital though. The only physical game I tried was Fallout 3 which worked fine.

It's probably different editions of those games. If I had to guess, I'd say there's a code on your disc, and only certain codes are supported. Well, at least that's the way PS3 handles some save game and DLC stuff... But I don't see any reason why that couldn't be the case here as well.
