Thats completely wrong.

Well that is my opinion ofcourse and it can be wrong the same with your opinion

People didnt buy the Wii U for several reasons, several things that Nintendo did wrong.(bad marketing of the Wii U at first year, lack of titles first year, confusing name, and many more)

Yeah this part of of marketing concept which are just part of the many mistake,

People wouldnt buy the Wii U just because they could take the gamepad everywhere as a tablet. If people wanted a tablet, they would just buy a apple or samgsung tablet,

I would agree if Wii were not love by many casual, Nintendo after SNES were left by casual and hardcore gamer, thanks to Wii Nintendo able to atract other market beside dedicated hardcore gamer (casual), After Wii stop on selling, and iPad start on selling, Nintendo were left by casual market, and their attempt on making tablet like device (obviously to attract casual ) is just a hard prove and evidence .

which are more effective for the things those people want.Nothing more, nothing less.Outside of games,Nintendo dosent have a name nearly as strong as apple and samgsung with the casuals.

That were the statement after Wii U failed , before that they were so confident, and it was proven by Wii selling like iphone or even iphone was motivated by Wii success.

Even Miyamoto admitted that the tablet like controller was a bad idea, since the novelty of tablets have already fade off by the time Wii U launched.

Thats just prove that the statement came after they failed to attract the casual lol

What people are actually excited about the idea of the fusion concept, as you didnt grab it, is that it would resolve two big problems:First is the game droughs.Having all Nintendo teams working for one system architeture, and so releasing most games to both systems, that would almost surely resolve the game droughts that Wii U and 3DS suffered for lack of third party support(Wii U much more than 3DS).

Well that could be true, i can agree with u,

And secondly it would help get third party on board,

Well if they need third party what they need :

  1.  Powerfull console -> Imposible since they are not leading on hardcore gaming market like  Xbox or PS anymore.
  2. Inovative design (hybrid/ Tablet/you can mention anything as long it's cheap but unique) -> this is more acurate

since they would create games for basically two systems for the cost of one, and thus a much larger install base.Of course there are alot of other reasons, such as taking your game save from the console to the handheld and being able to play it wherever you want, but people are more excited about it because that would solve the problem of lack of games,

Agree with u on this, no need to mention twice you just repeating the same sentence on the first paragraph lol

even if third party presence is small again. And all those rumours of industry leading chips are making people even more exciting, even if that could mean anything

Lol rumor will not change the result, even this has been proven many times, what they need is the actual info what is NX and what is the concept, if they can convince third party with the concept, and can sell a lot of consoles then they can atract a lot of developer, Wii and PS4 has prove this.

At this point, I think it would be hard to determine what the price of the NX will be. If it is a console and handheld, having it at that price while keeping it at that price seems impossible. I don't think they can make it powerful and split while keeping it at 299, unless Ninten is willing to bleed to make a base...

I don't think Nintendo is willing to make a loss in hardware to get people on the NX, although if the mobile project make "Wii-DS like profits" I can see them becoming willing to take losses.

Yeah, I don't think so. I don't think there has been many, if any moments, where Ninten took a loss to make a base...? o:

It will be 2 seperate devices (or so I believe from reports going around) so I dont think that price is an issue.

I suppose it won't be a problem to get people to buy them separately, but getting them to buy them both while having the same software may be. o:

But if you only have to buy the software once, and can play it on the go it would be enticing. IF you had to buy the game twice to essentially play the same game then it will fail. Odds are, if they are going to share the same library, you will only buy the game once, but can take it anywhere with the HH.

I have a felling their will be multiple SKU's of this. I'm kind of betting on the controllers being backwards compatible with the NX. (I have a feeling the NX will be very much like the WII U except for you can take the mobile unit with you as a handheld, so the Wii U pad will be able to work as a local controller.

So there will more than likely be 3 SKU's for this, the expensive one with a Mobile unit and a console unit, one with Just the console unit and maybe a pro-type controller, and the mobile unit. (So maybe $450-to-$500, $300-to-$350 and a $150-to-$200)

Another thing to note is timing. If they don't launch until sometime in 2017, the console unit maybe under $300, which will allow the chips used in the units to go down in price. (I'm guessing they will "off-the-shelf" parts with minimal optimization for gaming only purposes.)

As for the Wii U's price they said the exchange rates are one of the reasons they haven't cut the prices since they don't want to get into the red again. Though I do think there will be a price cut early next year, if they are still in the black for the year.

Weird like, you choose what you pay or something? There are many different price points that come with different configuations? Weird how?

I don't know, but they specifically referenced how they wanted to change the conventions of hardware pricing. And they specifically mentioned how game consoles are usually $300.

"The way in which dedicated video game systems and their software are sold has not changed significantly since the business model of dedicated video game platforms was first established 30 years ago. Dedicated video game systems are sold for two hundred or three hundred dollars, on which standalone software titles are distributed for 30 or 50 dollars. This simple model received widespread support from consumers that enabled us to create today’s market. The decision to change it is the manifestation of our recognition that we cannot expect this model to work forever amid dynamic changes in people’s lifestyles." - Iwata

We already know that they plan to tackle the software side of things with My Nintendo, but they haven't said anything about hardware. But they were clear that they indent to change it because they thing that model won't work forever. $300 consoles with static, $60 games won't work anymore according to them. They've already detailed "flexible pricing" for the software side. No clue how they intend to tackle hardware. But they said they will.

They could use cartridges, they might get 32-64 gb SD cards very cheap if mas-produced, the size of both HH-HC would be smaller (or more space for other things), games would load faster and you could carry the saved games on the cartridge with you, or even the DLC. For digital games, they could just enter through the MyNintendo account, so you can download it on both systems.

The only problem would be the storage capacity of the handheld part. If it can play HC games, the thing would need to an storage of 500gb-1Tb at least, and I don't know how to do that and keep the price intact.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, have it come with a memory card (small and cheap enough to get it out the door) But have it to where you can buy any
off the shelf card to add memory. You can get SD cards fairly cheap (like you said).  And hell, have it use the same card your 3DS has (which I already got a 50 gig) and you'll already have a good start. If what most people are going to download are patches, updates, and dlc you shouldn't need that much memory. If we're talking entire games though, it might go through a few cards, lol. Hell, it may be cheaper just to get the physical game on a card. If the games are streamed however might be a good way to curb that (instead of downloaded).

If the NX costs more than $250, Nintendo might as well just sell their hardware division right now. A PS4 console bundled with a game is $349 this year, and that will probably drop to $299 next year (coinciding with a new marketing push for a slim model). I think the XBox One will also have a $299 slim model next year.

Even if the NX is $249 at launch next year, your average gamer, going to a BestBuy, will be deciding between a $249 NX with its library of 10 - 20 launch games, or a $299 PS4 / XBox One with a library of 100+ games, what choice do you think they are going to make?

If this is true, then why the **** is the Wii U selling for $299?

Because, since nintendo is the only one in the world making gamepads, the cost just won't go down.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Depends on what the NX is really, but $300 sounds pretty reasonable for a console
