I'm surprised, but I agree with Patcher. My only hope for this is that his statement hasn't jinxed the NX pricing.

If it costs more its going to fail to win much market share.... PS4 has been on the market too long by then and has too big a games catalog.

Nintendo will need a seriously strong game lineup come NX launch or at 299$ or more, its going to be another Wii U in terms of sales.

To be honest though Nintendo haven't even said what it'll be ... handheld, console... Cloud super computer that streams games and Nintendo trading cards to your mobile phone, how is he putting a price tag on something.

$299 is ok. It will probably be the same price as PS4 and xbone so it will really need some killer software at launch.
The portable version needs to be cheaper though and even so should be a hard sell except in JP, there the portable version should be fine and the home console probably not.

To be frank, no freaking crap. It seems really obvious that Nintendo would launch at $300, unless they do something very unexpected and different with the console.

I believe it. I think what crippled the WiiU so early on was the fact it was more expensive than 360/PS3.
