What about people addicted to video game sales websites?

Not the same thats for sure, but the problem exists, but i thik its not as big as people make you think.
I play games, I looove games and the conversations about them. But i also like talking about movies just as much. And I rarely play more than 4 hours a day. Most days i dont even spend an hour on videogames, yet many people from my family would say that I'm a bit addicted to games.
Maybe I am, but I dont find it a problem up until now.
Never lost any sleep over a video game (for some reason I find it hard to play after night falls) so its fine for me.( i think at least)

I know one thing for sure, PC is the platform which is the most dangerous when it comes to addiction. Consoles up until now are quite harmless since they are not the "all day 'on' machine" that makes come back several times a day.

Hardcore gamers and addicted gamers are two separate categories, so no.

Addicted gamers though, yes similarities.

I would say a better question is: are hardcore gamers addicts?

Comparing hardcore gamers to drug addicts isn't the best example to use, but I would consider it an addiction, yes.

At heart I'm a hardcore gamer. But since I've been spending more time with my daughter, I guess I've found something stronger than crack cocaine. I've never tried crack cocaine or meth for that matter. So I dunno. Maybe I need to start going to Daughters Anonymous.

No. I have played games for all my life, but I have not felt the addictive nature come out much. Other things my family and I have been addicted to have negatively affected our lives. The feeling is very very different.

I remember 13-14 years back when I was 17ish (I'm 31 now) I had a friend who was so addicted, it was all he wanted to do, he finally got a job at the same place as me and a couple of other friends worked and all he spoke about was video games (absolutely no problem with that but it was allllll the time) he would talk about how he wanted the shift to end so he could get back to his bedroom and play on his PC. I remember when his PC broke for some reason and he was so angry cuz he couldn't play and games, he seemed like a different person he was edgy and his temper would run out fast. We told him he had a problem and he should calm it down a bit and come out with us but he never did. Eventually we lost contact with him.

Can't be addicted to video games myself, I have a daughter and she's more important.

Will I stay up way too late after she falls asleep playing Fallout 4? Yes.

Gaming is just my favorite hobby. We all do trivial things with our time, gaming is the one I do. At worst, sometimes I feel like I should have done something more productive some days. But a lot of people waste their time without playing video games as well.

I think drug addiction and over eating have more similarities than drugs and gaming.
