Okay I wrote this n another post.

"I agree, the first run of games on the ps3 look amazing, and yes there will be some gems, ..think about how good they will look toward the end of the run....or who knows sony might try and market it for 10 years??....or have another model to replace it."

I thought about what I wrote and there was another thread about the develop for the wii.

Nintendo is the only one of the 3 making money off their console, it is not as powerfull, Nintendo will have an advantage next time the new consoles debut, Here is why:

MS and PS3 use hefty hardware and pricy chips, Next go around all will try and innovate gameplay, Nintendo re-branded itself and with the cost of chips going down who is to say what will happen. I think the Wii 360 and PS3 will be anothe rgolden era for gaming(like the nes days)

Next go around will be very intense and toe to toe, comments ??...GO!

If current trends continue, then Nintendo had better have a great plan for their next console.

The motion-sensing bit can be easily done by any other console manufacturer, and my bet is regardless of this generation's outcome, it will be included in the next generation of consoles by default.

So... when your Xbox720 or PS4 has both nex-gen graphics and the waggle, how is Nintendo going to respond? 

Yeah I have said this many time b4. We will get a WiiHD that will be similar to the capabilities of a PS3 in like 2012 but with all of the same features of the Wii now. Channels, complete backward compatability with GC and Wii. A better overall wiimote. MS might not be there though. MS might figure that the hardware business is too much of a loss and not impacting their other divisions as well as they had hoped. Thus, maybe no 720. However, if they do it will probably be a similar jump to xbox -> 360 but with a controller change more like ps3's. Sony will do what sony does. They will be late to the party agian, with a more powerful machine. Not quite as big a jump as this round. They won't make the price mistake again. All in all, WiiHD will be less powerful again, but be 1/2 the price and this time out first. It will be like stepping from a GBA to a DSL.

Yeah. It is hard to say what is in stores for the next generation. So I just wont, and I will agree with your mother.

There's really no telling what the next generation could be. A WiiHD, or perhaps a whole new system, with the ability to still use Wiimotes and GC stuff?

The problem with that scenario is that Nintendo loses their "Blue Ocean" strategy and appeal as the other players would be offering arguably the same, but - dare I say it - more powerful.

Nintendo is creative, but they may have dug themselves a hole for the next generation if those ideas don't keep flowing, IMO! 

Actually, I will just agree with the theory that the world will end in 2012. Of course, this means that the real issue at hand is the next generation.... of human beings, if any.

next go around will be nothing like it was before. wii2 in a few years, Sony wont release a "PS4" till 2014/15, and who knows how MS will end this gen.

no idea about the 720, but ps4 is set up really well.  they have a chip design that is easy (relatively) to upgrade.  they can just add faster spe's and more of them.  they add a well designed waggle mote.  boom you have a ps4 that is out early, cheap, and runs like old hardware but is still vastly improved.

on the other hand the wii 2 wont upgrade well (maybe).  they will have to improve the system by so much that the hardware would change a lot, taking out a lot of the cost effectiveness. 

All they have to do is improve the wiimote, keep their motion control better than that of Sony and MS, and put in graphics around the level of PS3 with a low price tag and they'll be golden
